Anyone available comes in in the backline. Hopefully Lever, desperately need to get things a bit more organised down there, but suspect it'll be another week from comments on the footy show. Thursday will come around quickly.

Brown won't come in, he's only out of quarantine on Thursday, and will have had a week without full training. Could be wrong, but I'd be surprised.

I'll drop him off an exercise bike if that's what it takes

Bring in the other Brown then.

McDonald has not played a decent game since the Port Adelaide game last year.

Can't continue to carry a bloke that's had zero influence.

So? He can train at home. He can fly in the morning for a night game.
Zero chance he won’t play if he’s allowed to. Ben Brown after a week of iso is still better than Tom McDonald.

In: Brown

Out: McDonald

Goody won't make too many changes

Lever for Hunt and if BB ready to play he should come in for TMac. Can't drop the Weid after 4 goals

Greatest change we need for next week is an attitude adjustment.

Apologies to Clarry and Gus, tremendous games.

If Ben Brown not available, both TMac and and Weid stay in. TMac has had a really poor year so far and needs time at Casey, but he stays in until Ben Brown available. Mitch Brown will get seriously exposed at AFl level - he is injury cover now.

AS I am typing, just now in the media conference, Goody just said both Brown and Lever are likely available for next week.

I actually think one of Spargo or Kozzie need a break - both have been ineffective for most of this year, but unlikely to happen.

OUT: TMac, Smith

IN: B Brown, Lever

Brown straight back. Weid holds TMac out. TMac either goes back or dropped.

Lever back. Hunt out I think.

We can’t get the four missing defenders back quick enough.

Face palms for anyone that suggests dropping Joel Smith

Thought Smith was solid tonight. He won’t miss next week.

He won’t be dropped and nor should he but he wasn’t great tonight and our biggest problem right now is mistakes in our back half, which he, Hunt and Tomlinson are largely responsible for.

I know it was an ugly win but we all wake up tomorrow morning knowing we beat Essendon & that's a good start to the weekend

Struggling to think of an uglier win in recent years.

We played a tough game in really hard conditions 6 days ago and have most of our backline out, the players deserve a bit more credit

We won by 5 goals

Kozzie needs to lift his output , I'd give him another game next week but has been missing for majority of them have the last 2 weeks

He had a double pressure smother that then went down the other end when the game was there to be grabbed.

He is not missing, mate, you’re not looking at the right things.

Goodwin just said Lever and Brown to play next week.

IF that is the case BBB for TMCD and Lever for Hunt or maybe Tommo?  Smith?

It will be Brown for TMac and Lever for Tomlinson. Kozzie must be on thin ice if Bedford has a quality game tomorrow but playing Thursday night will limit the likelihood of changes for those who play today. For those saying Brown wont play that would go against Goody saying he would be available in the press conference.

This wasn’t even as ugly as Essendon last year

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
