GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast Suns

The way Trac chased his own kick there is why he's the bestย

ย

Where is our bang, bang, bang?

ย

95% of all Ed Langdon mistakes take place as he's doing [insert thing here] over the boundary line.
ย

9 goals 1 behind!!!!! I didnโ€™t even notice this until nowย

Ed having his worst game for the club.

We look better with Jackson in the ruck and Gawn up forward.

I think Gawn is getting in Brownโ€™s way.ย
We need to isolate one in the goal square.ย

How much will you all pay me to invent a Dermott Brereton mute button?

Iโ€™ll pay you double if you invent a Dwayne Russell mute button as well.

....stashed away for September hopefully...

Poor effort tonight. Defensive pressure and blocking access to the corridor have been atrocious.

Trac and Jackson have kept us in this. If we didnโ€™t have so many injuries already there would be some poor performing players ripe for dropping.

We just need to get the four points tonight and move on without anymore injuries.

Suns giving a lot of cheek they are playing at their absolute bestโ€ฆI reckon we are going about 60%

Umps are useless as usual.ย

I will take the score line. Suns are good.

Iโ€™d rather Riv and Gus werenโ€™t now under injury clouds, we are running out of backmen fast

Hunt having a mare. Needs to regroup and refocus

Based on very small sample size, Carlton and GC will be the big improvers this year

We are barely going and have at least 50% of the team who have given us less than nothing.ย
Fritta donuts, Harmes, Viney, Langdon putrid. Hunt shocking. Gawn needs to get going too.ย

Credit where credit is due, the suns are giving it everything and pushing us. The key for them will be maintaining this intensity whilst cleaning up their disposals and decision making.

Trac, Oliver and Jackson look too much for them to handle though.ย

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Nightโ€™s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourneโ€™s memorable premiership triumph.

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven Kingโ€™s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
