The absolute nerve that we can can come back after conseding 8 consecutive goals without 5 members from our premiership backline.

Watch out 2022, here we come!

So this is what it feels to be a good team, beat maybe the 2nd best side while playing mediocre

Not even warmed up for the season.

Update on Salem?

Looks like a PCL. If so that could potentially be a 6-10 game stint on the sidelines.

if that’s the case I’m surprised he played given the strapping he already had on it.

Was interesting to see a few different things in the middle. Nibbler in there a bit was interesting, especially when we have Harmes and Brayshaw in the wings.

Hey Rod, have you heard anything else RE. Salo. He didn't have his knee iced in the last quarter. Uncertain if this is a good thing, but he seemed pretty chipper.

We certainly missed Salem's congested clearances and his well-timed , more thoughtful clearances and play-making. But the menagerie backline actually held up well - enough to confuse the Doggies, that is.

We beat the dogs and the UMPS.

Need to kick straighter and should have had 20 goals but still great start to the season.

Odd feeling. I know it sounds cocky but I didn’t feel stressed or tense at any stage in that game, even in the second. This team will get it done. I just know they will.

Same. Even when we were 22 points down. It's not cockiness. We finally have a team we can trust & believe in.

Jeaus christ I was nervous in that last quarter..

A great win after being challenged. Some really good signs from players who seem to continue good form into this new year.

Really disappointed about Salem.

Nibbler definitely featured at a fair few centre bounces last year. Not surprising to see him in them at later stages of the game, especially earlier in the season, considering his fitness.

He is very good while working in close

Fascinating game.

Just like every other game against them last year EXCEPT the Grannie  they let Macrae rack up big numbers and put no time into him.

That is one confident move. Keep your powder dry for the finals

Goody just said that they are hopeful on Salem. Says he is going for a scan tmw but they are thinking he might be out for just a few weeks. Fingers crossed

Knew we had them Naughton over celebrated his goal in the 2nd qtr!

Felt strangely calm at The G myself!

During the last quarter we were just so good at parrying their forward thrusts - smothers, defensive marks and spoils etc. Fantastic work rate.

Pleasing to see Bedford start to get some of the ball late. Loving how good ball users spargs and particularly bowey are. Jackson is starting to look really imperious - could be an exciting year ahead for him. Hoping Salem not too bad, that's a huge loss on top of petty/lever/hibberd/rivers. Kudos to Smith on a promisingly solid outing, relief seeing thommo get through when originally being held back, and nice cameos from tmac down back too. Phew.

BBB is in for a ripper season I think.

Doesn't get outmarked, brings the ball to ground at worst and makes a contest. Plus has a bit of a run at players to force them out wide before they kick.

Also knows how to do some nice taps if he can't mark it.

And kicks goals!

Weapon.

Takeaways from tonight

1- we are a genuinely good team. We know how to win, we know how to swing momentum, we know how to kill opposition’s confidence.

2- umpiring putrid. Dogs in for another golden run with them in 2022

3- we are lucky the Bulldog’s forwardline is a dog’s breakfast outside of Naughton who is a gun. We will really hurt without Salem and Lever against the better forward teams (Brisbane, Geelong etc).

4- Benny Brown is in for a big year

5- our Goal kicking is still putrid

6- Petracca is next level

7- Freed from Desire is a terrible song

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
