Same here mate..

Just want to celebrate it with my old man before he departs.

Just give me one more please MFC....

My old man is in his 80's and lives 2,200km away.

After all of the times my brother and i (in our 50's) would [censored] and moan about him making us follow his Demons, the year we finally deliver is destroyed by the Covid drama.

I too am hoping we can salute again. I will even forgo being there in person if I can just sit beside him and cheer the team home together one time before he leaves us.

I get this but nah [censored] it - I want plenty more, not just one. I'm hungry and greedy for success, I want us to win so often and for so long that other clubs despise us out of envy and jealousy. I've been wanting that my whole life and now it's so close I can taste it. Keep 'em coming Demons until we take our rightful place at the top of the pile.

Haven't seen it yet but don't feel I need to relive all the pain ..... Again.
Even during the finals last year.
They couldn't give us anything without highlighting how our history is has been littered with disasters and disappointment.
Just give me an hr and a half of the good stuff.

That was great, I do wish Garry Lyon could stop worrying about being so biased at times and just came out and said that grand final was the most dominant quarter and half ever played in the history of the sport.

I guess Nathan Jones is biased too because he said it was "only" the most dominant minute we played that year.

Unfortunately I missed the documentary due to work commitments.

Hopefully, it will be available on Kayo or even on YouTube?

We really have suffered more than most our football club.

Now, finally, after 57 years of pain, our beloved Melbourne Demons are reigning Premiers! But it still feels a little hollow until we can repeat the glory at the MCG with another Premiership.

Fingers crossed we can achieve this at our spiritual home ground the MCG and as many of us as possible can be there to enjoy it with family and friends.

GO DEMONS IN 2022!!! 🔴🔵👹

Personally I could have done without the history lesson for the first half but I guess it needed context. At least they won’t have to include it all again in next years one.

So I’m watching this with my husband who is a recent arrival to the Melbourne supporting club thanks largely to me refusing to marry him if he didn’t get serious about AFL and Melbourne… when that Geelong loss was shown and then that stat was mentioned, he turns to me and goes “how is it possible to be this bad?”

He has no idea. Bloody bandwagoner!

Mr. and Mrs. Jaded’s wedding vows:

… For richer or poorer

In sickness and in health

To barrack for Melbourne

’Til death do us part.

You joke like I didn’t mention that he has to barrack for Melbourne in my vows…

My best friends also made a speech in which she said this will only be the happiest day of my life until Melbourne wins a flag. She is correct. A prophet is she.

And she’ll probs also tell you that Melbourne winning a flag will only be the happiest day of your life until you have a baby. Don’t believe it. Take it from me (and Maxy): the flag trumps all. 😁

So bloody cut at Foxtel right now. Out of the house so planned to watch on Foxtel GO using my account. Didn't finish working until 9:30. Turned it on and....and the bloody app doesn't let you watch more than 30 minutes earlier. So i can't watch from the start. I swear, the logic of some of these apps is bizarre.

Guess I have to wait until it's on demand.

Get rid of Foxtel and spend that money on Kayo. That show (and every other show and game) available live or from the start. I still resent the money but at least with Kayo I am getting exactly what I would have wanted out of Foxtel.

Aside from Jack Viney having a crack at his teammates when he was 18, there was nothing really ground breaking in the doco. It wasn't enjoyable reliving our tragic history post 1964.

I think Garry Lyon used a bit of poetic license when describing Jimmy Stynes running through the mark in the 1987 prelim. Dipper was the Hawthorn player who was unmanned in the forward pocket. I was behind the goals and screaming for someone to pick up Dipper, when Jimmy ran to man him up. And the siren hadn't gone at that stage, as Garry described.  The players who all missed gettable shots at goal, which would have sealed the game, were more at fault than Jimmy. Yeats, Jackson, Eishold and Campbell were the real culprits.

I would have loved to have seen a doco that just related to our entire 2021 season, with behind the scenes footage that included Darren Burgess' training methods. As a sports lover, I find the ESPN 30 for 30 docos fantastic. Unless you are a Dees supporter, this was a pretty average doco to be honest.

Yep, agree. Even with 1987, they skip from slipping into the 5 through to losing the prelim. Those 2 winning finals in 1987 where we belted the roos and then the swans were absolute highlights of the 1980's, but don't fit in with the 57 years of pain narrative.

I know right?

Recently I was at my son’s share-house and his housemate asked me what was the happiest day of my life. I said the 25th of Sept 2021 and explained why (these hipster [censored] aren’t into footy so didn’t know why).

He says, “but you’ve got three kids, shouldn’t that day be the FOURTH happiest day of your life?” I said, “Uhm…No.” He turns to my son and says, “dude, how does this make you and your brothers feel? Like you’re second-rate?”

My son says, “nah man, we count ourselves lucky to be second on her list. And that’s only coz she lists her football team as a single entity. If she were to individually name each player and the coaching staff we’d be lucky to scrape into her top 50.” 😆

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
