Concerning wording used by Carlton of Walsh being out for 'at least' the first month

Gun player and can be a nasty injury to recover from.

What type of injury is it?

Busted ankle. Basically a fracture and tear of the tissue between the tibia and fibula. Generally 4-8 weeks in a moonboot. They suck.

Edit- Sounds like his is even more serious requiring surgery. He'll get a wire or a couple of screws in there. Not fun.

* checks to see when we play Carlton ... and it's not until round 22.  Oh well.

They will be tanking by then.

Pre 2021 i would have thought, well at least that helps us to claim a spot in the 8.

Post 2021, that sucks seeing a young champ get seriously injured.

The premiership has made me into a much nicer person

He should have prepared himself like a professional athlete.

But the cost of insurance

Tanks or panzers?

Panzer V; broke down a lot

Unfortunately for a player with this type of injury the mental side of twisting and turning may become a problem long term because they may not have the confidance to do things they did before the injury.

He is a sensational player and Carlton will feel the loss during the 4 matches he may be out and along with the loss of Jones it may effect their chances of a place in the 8?.

My brother-in-law grandson and son-in-law support the Blues and they hoped they could get a injury free run this year after losing players like Doherty, Curnow and a resticted Cripps last year.

More potential carnage for the Blues

Great to see The Blues in Tip Top Condition at the start of a new Season.
As someone who is old enough to have known their sheer arrogance from 1965-2000 I observe their pains with a quiet smile

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
