The venue itself is a great place to watch a match, the crowd is a different story, but this time you get to be the smug premiership winning wnker supporter, how good.

I agree its a great venue Cards albeit a tad blustery and hard to watch if there's a westerly blowing.  Most of the game played on the Middleborough Road wing/flanks if there is one.

So are you suggesting we put on all our 'premiers' gear and go!??  I can hear the banter now.... "so you've won one in how bloody long and you now reckon you're hot [censored] huh!?" 😄

Taj Woewodin came off late in the Casey game after taking a big hit. Hopefully, he’s all right - not included in the Round 7 report above.

Feel for Smith.  He can't take a trick.  Another medium term injury.  8-10 weeks is huge.

Smith out for 8-10 weeks, unlucky lad. Had a few too many drinks at the game on Saturday and not sure how it happened.  Can someone clarify?

Was in the third quarter on the members' wing. He was pushing for a spoil/mark, from memory, landed a bit awkwardly and then reached down for his ankle. That was that, I think.

Thanks just saw it in the Video Link above. Feel for Joel, out of contract at the end of the season too - poor fella

Such a shame for J Smith. Was such a trivial incident and can’t believe it resulted in a fracture.

Tommo is obviously next in line, given that Petty comes back in this week.

I preferred Joel Smith over Tomlinson as he is quicker and can handle guys on the lead better. Probably makes Jayden Hunt more important because we need someone who can rebound.

Smith can't take a trick, his body doesn't seem to be capable of playing consistent AFL football. He is always injured. Poor guy.

I wonder what is going on with Hibbo. Is he done with that calf do we think?

Death, taxes and Joel Smith breaking down with injury every single year.

Hibbo looked really good in the practice match against North Jaded, calf injuries seem tricky. Initially it was two weeks and now we’re almost a third of the way through and he’s still struggling with it. Would love to see him back out there even if it’s with Casey.

It seems to me calf injuries are very tricky when the player in question is over 30. Having said that, I suspect a fully fit Hibberd would struggle to break into this side at the moment anyway.

joel smith has never played more than four consecutive senior games - and then only once - in six years

so is it never or only once?

He's played four games in a row once (Rounds 15-18 in 2020).

That is the one and only time he has strung more than three games in a row together. He's managed three a few times, including Rounds 1-3 this year.

I’d say you initially thought you’d keep it to just one or two tins, but then got caught up in a round system with your mates. By half-time there was really no turning back plus - look out - Jono’s just pulled out a cheeky hip flask of Jamesons, fellas…

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
