Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

I think we're about 10k ahead of where we usually are at this stage so tracking well for 65k

If we keep winning we should reach 60,000 soon. Fingers crossed we can reach 65,000! 🤞

I think it will take another Premiership in the near future to break the barrier of 70,000+ MFC members.

In the end, we need to focus on sustained success for the next 10, 20 and even 30 years. If we can do that then our future will be very bright indeed.

Today is 'Membership Day' on SEN.

Club has a special promotion:  6 Home games GA membership for $66.00.  Has priority access ticket rights to first 3 rounds of finals ie not the GF.

I just bought 2 for friends/family who might want to come along.  They are GA memberships so can't sit in my level 2 Reserved Redlegs area but seats can be reserved for them at $30 each for level 2A to sit together.

Pretty good deal!

Detail here:  membership/666-6-games

Edit:  I bought them on my account but they can also be bought in for a new member account if that is preferred.  I found it a lot easier to just buy them and allocate them as each game comes up to whoever is free to go to the game.  Just rang the club and done in a few minutes.

This is a great deal but I wish I'd held off on my MILs membership. I bought her an armchair membership for $85, could saved $20 and got access to 6 home games 🤷‍♂️

She came to the GWS game, wants to come this week to. I can get her in anyway with our AFL memberships (usually at least one spare to use) but would've been nice to have the additional ticket. No biggie though.

Ok, well as long as she is getting some exercise. Don’t want a Gilbert Grape situation; those cranes are an expensive rent.

Geez that's exciting! it's amazing how much success helps! Gary Pert nailed it in the recent interview, we're really battling for the next generation of kids, when you're on top you're more likely to be chosen and that's how you build your fan base into the future and become a powerhouse club.

this really feels like a totally different club now from what it was from 2007-2012

Oath.

Players like Gawn, Kosi and Petracca will help.

Reckon we need another excitement machine over this period to attract even more kids.

I have seen little kids walking around my suburb in Melbourne Jumpers. First time i have EVER seen that happen.
It will take a few years to build it right up.

Can't see the current list plummeting in the next 6 or 7 years, provided that we have an adequate list management plan.

I know we've compared notes with Melbourne Storm in the past re building culture.  I'm hoping we've learnt what ever they know about staying at the top once you get there.  They've had their generation of absolute top end players come and go and they're still a powerhouse.  Hearing Petracca in a recent interview - it seems like that's what they're wanting to create.

I am hopeful we do understand that.

I think all the necessary foundation are there (young talent, cap space?, star players committed long term).

Jackson and Oliver contracts will be key and pivotal for the next phase of long sustained success.

For sure we want more than that but let's start with the short-mid term plans.

I believe it is a synergy that once it clicks just keeps rolling.

It appears on club websites but not all clubs publish them and when they do they are not easy to find.

This is a recent update from a bigfootoy thread:

Carlton 77,000.
For comparison, other AFL Club Member Numbers
From Club websites as at 7 April:
Essendon: 70,482
Freemantle: 45,298
Geelong: 58,547
Melbourne: 55,595
North Melbourne: 42,234 *
Richmond: 93,587
St Kilda: 50.891
Western Bulldogs: 45,503
* Note: North website says "42,234 members including 3,050 AFLW Members"

It is hard to compare because of the different categories of memberships each club offers.

The AFL isn't built that way (salary cap, draft etc) but some clubs have managed to beat the system. Sydney and Geelong have been up for 20 years missing finals once or twice then back up. Hawks may prove to be that kind of club too albeit with another year or two outside the 8.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
