Your obsession is bizarre. You seemingly make every post about Andrew. I wonder if you'd be as obsessed trashing an 18 year friend of your grandson as opposed to an 18 year old kid from Sudan?

If you actually followed what WJ has been saying, then you might appreciate the difference between proper analysis and what you describe as “trashing”.

Good God.  What has his family origins got to do with anything ?

To be fair he hasnt trashed the player in my view, but rather the concept of drafting him with a high pick - and with some sensible reasoning.   I don't necessarily agree but have never felt his comments had anything do with him being from Sudan either,  other than that fact linked him to our academy.  He's been very unflattering about Mac's arm girth, all the same.

We can’t tell how he’s going to go in the big time from his highlights but we can tell that he’s already got a beautiful kicking technique for goal and dobs them from everywhere.

So van Rooyen according to the AFL website comes from a Zimbabwean background. Can we quit with the Dutch thing now? It's a different continent. Also as such I have no idea how to pronounce his name.

Zimbabwe had a fair percentage of dutch people in its early days before Mugabe, but who cares, the kid looks of a good size and now we have the right development he will come on faster than say Watts who I would have liked to have seen with Mark Williams there now.

Not half as unflattering as Van Rooyen’s arm girth which should now be the subject of much greater importance to Demon fans and which I’m sure the Club’s fitness people will attend to ASAP.

Given the Afrikaans are descendants of the Dutch, through settlement in southern Africa by the Dutch East India Company, I would have thought the Dutch link is highly relevant.

In South Africa, the English-speaking white people call the Afrikaaners "Dutchmen". Probably the same in Zimbabwe.

At least now recruits and there families will be excited when they become part of Melbourne, this kid will be walking into a team that are premiers and will be something.

Remember years ago when families didn't want there kids going to Melbourne because of the terrible place it was in.

I think you’re being tough with our boy JVR, noting that he was diagnosed with glandular fever in May and that illness can knock you about even if you’re a fit young person. That makes his efforts both in the WAFL Colts and for the WA Under 19s even more admirable. I did watch him in those state games and he was impressive in both in defence and attack. Moreover, my understanding is that he was sent down back after already proving himself as a forward at Colts level and in earlier state games to test his capability in defence. He not only did that but also from memory was sent forward late in the game and kicked the winning goal. He’s gone a long way to proving his versatility and he’s lucky to be at Melbourne where there’s absolutely no pressure on him to hold a place in the senior straight away.

Didn't Clarry have glandular fever at the beginning of his draft year as well?

Looks like Dad knew something was up. They might’ve been informed that we were very keen on him (which suggests to me he was our target before the draft got under way)

Said something negative, therefore must be racist.

Some cant get through a day of their lives without throwing the accusation at someone else.

Speaks volumes about that person.

Looks like they planted the seed the night before

He might have gone up like that before every pick leading up to it also?  Just a super excitable fella perhaps.

Imagine this, you come in as an 18 year old KPF and your job at training is to compete against Steven May, Jake Lever and Harry Petty.

His development will be fast tracked as a result, to the point where he will probably have easier match ups in an actual game than he would at training....

Fantastic we picked up a very promising tall fwd - our biggest need.  But he can also play down back and can run so potentially on a wing too

Looks a very big unit for a kid so we have mitigated a lot of the risk in picking a player especially in covid times.  He has exposed form unlike most kids

Jeepers. You're taking it back to the 17th century?

My surname doesn't reflect my ancestry and nor does my birthplace.

He has evidently spoken of his Zimbabwean background. That's all anyone has to go on.

Anyways, welcome to the club Jacob.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
