Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

But gee whizz this is effectively promoting the MFC's Flag and importantly using the MFC Brand which could so easily be tarnished by this guy, so hopefully someone at the club has endorsed it.  I wonder if he is using an official AFL replica Cup...

Yep, it's a dinky di cup, supplied by Ricky Nixon

This is the most significant part of the article:  "The eight events are being organised outside the Melbourne Football Club’s control by event company, DAPS Entertainment".

And odd attitude by the promoter:

"I’ve got large overheads. I book all the players though their agents, not the club. I’ve got to hire the venue and the venues aren’t cheap. There’s tech crews, memorabilia and it all adds up... “I will not run these events at a loss. I’m not in the events business to lose money. I’ve got to cover my costs and hopefully make something in return from it".

It sounds like he has engaged the players directly through their managers.  Presumably the club has no control over their external promotion/appearance contracts.

I find it hard to believe that he would recover his cost on this.

I don't see how he will draw the numbers required to break even let alone make a profit.

Particularly with the club running a big event at the 'G'.

I hope the players are being advised properly and have their fees up front.

Let's say it is $30 and a70,000 attend. That's a cool $2,100,000.

That $2,100,000 can be used towards a belated thorough analysis the 2018 Preliminary Final.

I have heard from a reliable source they are not reviewing the 2021 prelim either

I seriously doubt that you will be able to have a photo with the Premiership Cup at this event anyway. Can you imagine the line for that? With 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50,000 plus people there (or whatever the cap is) there is simply no way that is logistically possible.

I can’t see every man and his dog being able to line up for a photo with the cup. That will take hours and hours. Everyone will want one.

This might be an unpopular opinion to the masses but those of us that have forked out for guaranteed Grand Final tickets should 100% be given this opportunity.

I live in the "regions", and there's no way I'm going to spend $500 for the whole family to go to an event like this. You have to wonder where celebrating a premiership ends and price-gouging begins.

It's not the club though, its an events company going through player managers

I may be in the minority here, but honestly for me personally the moment for this has past.  You can't replicate those spontaneous feelings of joy we all had imeediatley post the game and the party atmosphere they enjoyed in Perth, while most of the rest of Australia was excluded.  To me, this would just be a slightly better than normal family day type function.

I am much more looking forward to Rd.1 or whenever it is that we unveil the flag for the first time in front of 80,000 MFC supporters at a sold out MCG and give who ever we play an absolute hiding.  Following that it's winning the 2022+ flags at the G, with my mates, son and old man that I'm looking forward to and then this moment will be complete and real.

They're doing a regional tour, but the admission price is an eye-watering $149 for a single or $499 for a family to attend.  Such high prices will keep a lot of fans away, I would expect.

Must admit I was a little shocked at the price.   Understandable if its not MFC doing it, but not sure I can afford the entry and a photo of the cup.    Glad I know the date now,

To be honest, I’d be more excited about going to this year’s B&F function, if it was a big and in-person event, with all the players and the cup as guests of honour. Haven’t anything on the reschedule of B&F.

From today's HUN an article says that our MFC event may be used as an experiment to judge how well the G can handle a big crowd now that proof of double vaccination is required for entre. It stated this could make entering the G a lengthy process. As this was not required early this for games what does those who went to those games think,? It appeared having to get an entre ticket was harder than usual. Any thoughts girls and boys?

I can’t imagine it would slow things down too much. Scanning the QR code at entrances is something we’re all used to now. Likewise, showing our vax certificate on our phones is something we will quickly get used to.

Geez, keep your shirt on bub.

1.  I didn't report it, SEN did.  I just posted a link to their article.

2.  The facts are as stated in the SEN article.  No "blasphemy" was committed.

3.  I know.  I never criticised the club.

I think you might need to go a have a Bex and a nice lie-down before you blow a gasket.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
