And let’s hope the contract was signed before said game

That would be nice

He is only 20!

Take a minute to absorb that performance.

On any other day that is a BOG performance.   That honour goes to Viney.

Nine tackles is the big one for me. That’s insane numbers for anyone let alone a young ruckmen.

Watching at the ground, thought be was a beast around the stoppage. 9 tackles, hard tackles too, plus the unquantifiable pressuring, scrapping, hunting.

He's immense in the little things and serviceable in the key areas.

Has great link up hands.

I now think we play him 70% ruck and Gawn out of the goal square, Fritch around the 40.

I still believe 800k a season is way overs for him. More like 799k ATM.

I was sitting with a neutral supporting friend and he was continually singing Jackson's praises. What a footballer! What an athlete! He can do anything! Etc etc. This never got boring, and what he said was all true.

Maybe we're all on the wrong train... offer Gawn to Freo for three first rounders.....

Pretty sure some Wag on here said that by observing how Jackson played, would tell us whether he was going to sign a contract or not...

ps... I would have posted this if i had a poor game as well, or even a middling... none of these things would be instructive of anything.

And some on here said he is just a player.
Get what you can for him.
That foolish human is on ignore

I got a good feeling LJ (Torana) will stick around

And I'm still waiting for the explanation of exactly what could be deduced from either a good or a poor performance.   Now we know it was good, the job should be easier so I'm expecting the Wag to tell us the contractual situation.

As the #1 ruckman he was unbelievable last night gave our midfield a different dynamic - what we may lose in some hitouts as he's not a big ruckman we gain so much in his ability to play as a genuine mid, his power out of the stoppages, his handball skills its like having a giant Clarrie in there!

Love Jacko, and would love him to stay, but if we want sustained success the conversation will be happening asking Jackson what he wants and if it’s to leave you look after #1 and get the best deal for the club moving forward Oscar Allen and a first round pick gets it done for me.

#1 pick Tom Scully leaving effectively got us Hogan who got us May

AA defender Frawley leaving gets us an extra first rounder seeing us nab Bradshaw and Trac

I dare say Trac, Gus and May were all vitally important in us winning the flag last year.  No player is bigger than the club, keep evolving and improving I have great faith in Jason Taylor making the right decisions

Trades can't been seen in isolation but part of a bigger plan.  Though I expect Taylor doesnt want to try and find a replacement quite yet.  :)

Excellent job by Dogga, first quarter aside. I was very concerned at quarter time because he had been clearly beaten.  The next three quarters… sensational.

Plenty of evidence in this thread of posters who can't see that.

Surreal.

Just heard Brad Hardie on 6PR Perth say he had good information that LJ met with a group from the Dockers at a café in Modialloc on Saturday????

If I was looking to meet with LJ and try and entice him, then it sure wouldn’t be in a public forum like a Mordialloc cafe!

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
