With picks # 6,8,19 & 22 Freo are now well positioned to trade further up the draft board.

(I know, I know...who cares)

One of their last two picks will go to Geelong for Clark

Interesting change of plans from the hawks. I hope it blows up in their face..... But I'm probably asking for too much.

The news of the day from Melbourne’s perspective was not its involvement in trades but rather, the re-signing of a raft of players including Kade Chandler who was being courted by the Crows. The seven players include senior listers Oskar Baker and Toby Bedford and rookies Mitch Brown, Chandler, Majak Daw, Deakyn Smith and Daniel Turner. This leaves the club with three players left uncontracted - Michael Hibberd, Marty Hore and rookie Kye Declase although it has been reported that Hibberd has been offered a one year deal. It’s looking very much like there’s not much room left for more than 2 or 3 newcomers at the draft.

Done Deals

9. Collingwood trade their round two selection (22) to Fremantle for their round two selection (27) and a future third-round pick.
10. Fremantle trade a future second-round pick and future fourth-round pick to Gold Coast for Will Brodie, a second-round pick (19) and two picks from round four (61, 69).
11. Fremantle trade Adam Cerra to Carlton for pick six and a future third-round pick.
12. Tim O’Brien (Hawthorn) joins the Western Bulldogs as an unrestricted free agent.
13. In a three-way trade, the Western Bulldogs traded Lewis Young to Carlton.
Carlton traded Sam Petrevski-Seton to the West Coast Eagles.
The West Coast Eagles traded their round three selection (52) to the Western Bulldogs.

If we're only taking 1 or 2 picks into the draft then I would presume that we would move on pick 37, 49 and 57 into something better for this year or into next. 49 and 57 may come in by half a dozen spots or more and could be valuable for clubs still wanting points.

Makes a bit of sense why Freo is entertaining trading Lobb to GWS.  He is taking up a could chunk of Salary cap room, off load him and add O'Meara.  They will get Clark deal done with pick 22, Pick 8 would get the O'Meara deal done maybe with a Hawthorn Pick.

Can't believe Rory Lobb would be on 700K as suggested on trade shows last night....Massive overs for a player who has never shown more than bits and pieces.

You can't see GWS paying the entire amount if the trade happens

Just to light a fire... what about James Sicily to our backline to free up Mr H Petty to roam forward in the TMAC role.  A big clunker of marks.

A reverse Frawley if you will....

I think Mitchell sees him as the next captain, so doubt he'll let him go.

I like the idea of a reverse Frawley though haha.

Is the trade period always this boring? Or is it just because this year we have had something far more enjoyable still in the front of our minds? This is a serious question. In previous years, because we've had little else to be enthusiastic about, trading and drafting became the highlights for us. But were other years as slow and boring as this one?

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
