Wonder of there's any legs in the Maynard rumour of a little while ago?

He would honestly be perfect. Hibbo is going again next year apparently and Maynard’s contract finishes next year…

Wonder if Maynard sticks with the pies and see how it goes next year then comes across if it’s terrible

Lockhart stiff. Looked a lock for Round 1 until he got injured right before the season started, and then seemed to literally drop off the clubs map. Not many updates or mentions of him.

Thank you to all, you will always be MFC people

I was just thinking should he retire, if he does go on surely a one year contract. Will be a lot of competition for the backline next year when everyone is fit and firing.

For Maynard, it'll be now or never I reckon.

I believe Hibberd has signed a new 1yr contract.

Lockhart.  Very unlucky. Deserved another year.

Vanders. Yes the pace of the game means he will struggle imo

Bradtke. Never got the chance due to covid reduced cancellation of VFL

Nietschke.  Heartbreaking run of knee injuries.

Jonesy. Thank you. You are a legend.
Nev.  Your intensity and bravery will be remembered.

Question marks. Daw - I’d keep as Ruck depth if possible. Mitch Brown - probably will be delisted imv.

He will definitely play a few games but I reckon by the end of next year he will be out of the team. That’s just my feeling though.

Yeah this is just brutal so soon. Would take some shine off the celebrations.

Ruthless business.

Surprised by Lockhart and Vanders being cut tbh; especially Lockhart as his role is not an area of particular depth on our list.

I wonder if there’s a chance or a rookie spot if there’s no DFA takers..?

Goody said on The Couch they have to finalize everything by Wednesday. Brutal but it is what it is.

If you are being delisted, surely you would want to know sooner rather than later to maximise your chance of being picked up by another club.

Yeah I saw that and was surprised you have to get it done so quick.
Even for the ones that didn’t play they’d be having an amazing time, what a thud back to earth.

Would think vanders gets a gig somewhere, would be a good fit at the suns

Thats I think too now he is fit.  They need someone with high standards and aggression.

A solid reminder that nothing in footy can be taken for granted. A good reminder for the players that it comes and goes in the blink of an eye. Like the Dog’s 19 point lead.

Well said Samantha.

Nev retires a Demon great, liked by all. Well done Nev.

Enjoy your retirement and hopefully it sees you with a new role at the MFC.

Love Nev, I hope he is offered a position at the Club! He has qualities that go far beyond the playing field.

Enjoyed Vander's 'take no prisoners' attitude. Injury hampered his progress.

Was also a Jay fan. He will surely find a new home.

Feel for Bradke... I saw improvement as he filled out. A tall kid who could be picked up.

Sad for Nietschke, never got the opportunity.

All of these blokes were severely compromised by the demise of the second tier competition.

Best wishes to you all, gentlemen. Thank you for your contribution to our Club.

Has Melksham been delisted as well? If so I hope he gets a gig somewhere else.

Think he’s got another year to run, he may explore his options.

No word on Mitch Brown.. Maybe he'll stay.

Good depth to come in as a role player for 2 goals a game if needed. But hopefully not needed as that would mean Weid is struggling.

I always thought Lockhart was going to make it. Rivers, Hunt and Bowey have all ended up being superior small defenders though.

Always loved vandenBerg's spirit, but as a club we have developed to a point where players need more than vandenBerg's aggression to get a gig in the 22.

Anyone thinking Gold Coast would need him should take off the rose coloured glasses.

Good, honest tryer, but pretty limited now that the game is speeding up

I must say I am quite surprised the amount of delistings.

It looks like Jones and Nev have retired.

VDB & melksham will be traded for token picks if they find homes.

Plus the three delistings.

That's 7 list spots to fill with 3 picks all above 33.

Is that actually the case though? Bradtke was a category B rookie, so I don't think takes a spot on the list. Nietschke was also only a rookie.

And given that Turner and Declase came in as injury replacements, I'm assuming that we had more players on our list than we would be allowed when Hore & Tomlinson come back off the LTI list. Plus we need to create room for Jordon to go back on the senior list.

I wouldn't be surprised to see more delistings before the first list lodgement date.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
