When you say you’re a Melbourne supporter.

Mine would have to be: “when was the last time Melbourne won the premiership?”

Saturday can change that

wait until next year

In a totally patronising way:

If (insert $h!tty team) don’t win it this year, I hope you guys do.

"The Bulldogs week off benefits them more than the Demons 1 game in 28 days"

I'm way too focused on the game this week to think about the 57 years preceding it or any regular Melbourne barbs from the usual numpties.

Melbourne supporters going to the snow!!

I’m just sick of being reminded about how rubbish we were.

We, Melbourne supporters know this better than anyone else.

I want to celebrate watching a team that is not only full of great players but is now playing as a great team.

The question - “Are you nervous?”

Only one reply - “it’s been 57 years, so wadda YOU reckon?”

The bigger the downfall the greater the comeback.

Long suffering supporters.

Do you know the players names - (well done Nos 5)

After a loss of four goals or less…

(Again, Patronisingly):

“Well, you weren’t thrashed. So there’s that.”

The word ‘COVID’

Technically, it’s an acronym. 😉

Over the last two weeks there's no contest for me.  It is "We beat them in round 19 without Treloar or Dunkley".  I'll spew if I hear it again.

But with Bruce

1 game in four weeks, when the reality is on grand final day it will be our third game in 5 weeks and their fourth.

I’m sick of hearing about Caleb Bloody Daniel. Yes he has great vision and awareness, yes he’s a reliable kick, but he’s a reliable 11 metre kick. Most of kicks don’t go the required 15 metres, and I personally don’t see him as damaging as some of the other back flankers.

Im also sick of hearing that the Dogs have the best midfield, on Saturday there’s a couple of slackers that go by the names of Oliver, Trac and Viney who I think will put this myth to rest.

Have never been able to reconcile why I seem to take the attitude towards/perception of the MFC so personally. It perplexes my wife too. The Range Rover and snow stuff has always riled me up.

Even if it all goes south on Saturday this last month has been enjoyable in seeing that there are so many other people who have similar feelings about all this.

I like to think if we get it done on Saturday the boys will do it with humility and class and our supporters will afford more respect to our opponents and other supporters than what seems to be the norm for winners in Aussie rules football. The club do seem to have taken a decent step forward this year with cutting out the ill conceived arrogance and focusing on the work.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
