Injury scare a great set-up to sub Spargo off for a fresh player in the last quarter if required.

I like your thinking Supermercado, Hunt could slot in if needed🤔

I mean this was exactly what I was praying wouldn’t happen. All for a strong hit out but really there needed (I would’ve expected) a conversation at the start to say tackles at 50% and not to spin and dump like that. I know Bedford’s trying to put his name in the calculations but F-me May could see in the background it was too much.

Fingers crossed for Spargypants, he’s been massive this year.

If Spargo is injured then hunt seems a logical replacement. But let's be honest Spargo is not a big name but he has been exceptional in his role this year. Will be a big loss.

Excellent news, we got through the big hit out with no injuries.

6 days to go

should fly by 😬

It happened in a tackling drill and you probably see a heap of tackles like that during a training session. I wouldn’t expect them to go half-arsed in a tackling drill otherwise what’s the point.
Spargo would be a huge loss both offensively and defensively. Pleasing to hear it’s nothing major.

I did have to chuckle at that (after we were told he was ok). All this commotion about a scratch match and he does it in a regular training drill.

Possible Spargo injury - Demonland's heart skips a beat - my, how times have changed!

I’ll put my hand up and say the Spargo bandwagon was standing room only when I jumped on.

He’s a key ingredient to our forward line now though. He defends like a warrior and his possessions while low in numbers are high in value. The kid rarely wastes it. And I love his reactions to when he scores. It’s almost like “yeah so? It’s my job.”

He’d be a massive blow if out. Sounds like it’s all good though.

Spargo adds 3-4 goals a game

hardly “just a role player”

Have some respect

No, not at all. It’s smart. All I meant was he looked fluid and under no duress on that footage. See his kick in game and how much it was hurting him.

I want to see footage of Bont turning at pace and not in an arc. I don’t think he can do a sharp turn at the min.

Should be trying to hit him hard and unbalance him at every opportunity.

And they're rarely junk time goals either. e.g. last week. Kicked when the heat was on, including set ups.

Plenty of time for that later in the week. Give him the full week and a half from the PF to recover before potentially testing him out.

I'm talking about the Bont

And the lowest game time of the entire doggies list last match.  Understandable in the circumstnaces, but I smell an opportunity.

Its a tough one, because at first point of contact he drops the ball, as all the dogs do, and you're more likely to be pinged for a lingering tackle than winning a HTB call.

Right, sorry. For some reason I thought you were discussing May.

Alright media we can stop talking about the ‘1 game in 28 days’ crap now. We have officially got this session out of the way and will be ready. Repeat, stop talking about it.

I agree. Such a non factor. The ironic thing is the dogs won the 1954 GF after 1 game in 28 days. And smashed it as well.

When the top 4 and 5 were a thing it was the norm to win it after 1 game in 28 days. In 1962 Essendon won after 1 game in 35 days.

That will be a start but if he is turning, that is the perfect moment to impact with him for Dees' players. Be his shadow and be ready if he turns in any direction. He will often attempt to provide a teammate with 'blindside' protection/screening - that is the best moment.

Tom McDonald played ok. Interestingly played 10mins down back (maybe a contingency plan if someone gets injured mid game )

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

  • PREGAME: Richmond

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
