A friend of mine is a Doggies supporter and he asked are we up for it - as we have only played played 1 game in 4 weeks?

Tell him no, we're out of form and soft as butter.

I really need to ask the question. When was the last time Hannan played 2 good games in a row? I don’t think he even played 2 good quarters in a row when he played for us.

I'm wondering why as well. Pace seems to have picked up as well.

They are certainly due for a choke, they've got all the pressure really we've got a massive out if we lose.

If we win it's the greatest flag ever.

If they win, they beat that team that copped a raw deal.

These guys have surprised me this year with their new found mettle; I'm waiting for the real Demons to appear.

Love the inflated confidence and feeling hard done by. They bottomed out at the wrong time - chucked the game against Port to guarantee top 4 and then gifted by the umpires their semi final win against the Lions…talk about a raw deal lol give me a break.

Can’t see us choking from here and if anything the opposite is more likely…

When Tom Hafey coached the Tigers his game plan was to kick it to Royce Hart.

When asked about his plan B he replied "Kick it to Royce Hart".

Kick it l-o-n-g to Royce

Is this what they mean by annus horribilis?

I go see my Old Man at Deer Park and they're a different lot out that way. I wanna win even more so there's a skin graft needed.

I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for the Doggies and wouldn’t want to tease them for losing but it’s what they’re saying at St. Kilda that amuses me -

dragit wrote in 2014 before St Kilda drafted Paddy McCartin at #1 ahead of Christian Petracca:

Don't think I will ever recover if we take McCartin and he flops while Petracca becomes the gun that everybody is predicting.

We don't want to risk taking a raging bull mid/fwd with a hip problem, but we'll take the chance on an overweight, diabetic & injury prone full forward that is 3 inches shorter than the other key forwards coming through the system.

It's so creepy seeing Alan Richardson in a melbourne kit hugging Petracca with a norm smith around his neck. It was like a fever dream watching him rip that final apart.

While I’m deliriously happy, a part of me feels a bit sad for the Doggies. I lived out that way before moving back to Japan, and have very fond memories of it.

If it was Hawthorn (and especially Jeffrey K), I wouldn’t give a crap. Doggies supporters are generally good sorts and as salt of the earth as you can get. I’m not going to dance on their grave.

So what are they saying now? 😉

Fully agree as a former westie dweller (living next door to someone who thought Luke Darcy was God), but on the other hand ... get flucked Doggies!

I remember when in 1987 we won the last game of the season at the Footscray Oval to get into the finals for the first time in 23 years and the joy of singing the clubs theme song.

Now we get to sing it again but after the premiership has been won.

Up there with Tex Walker booking an extra seat on the flight back to Adelaide with the 2017 premiership cup.

Three great 'recent' wins against the Dogs. '87 last round to get us into the finals, '94 final where Gazza kicked 10 and last night.

Well at least now they know they don’t have a monopoly on fairy tale GF wins.

This clown had a pain in the [censored] twice this week, one was a tattoo and the other was the MFC. The easy fix would be to get the 21 changed to 16.

Had a read of their game day thread.
Enjoyed their shock and despair when when we went on the rampage in the 3rd.
They were daring to dream and Nek Minut .... It was over.
Poor fools.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
