I think Benny Brown might cement himself in Demon folklore with a 4-5 goal day out.

I reckon this also.

Either Harmes for smothering Bailey Smith or Viney for negating Libba

Trent Rivers to keep Weightman to zero free kicks.

The umpiring during our prelim was pretty good, I can only hope that this continues. The umpires should be well aware of this as well as their 10 metres kicks.

I'm going to wake up the street with my singing if we get this done.

Tom McDonald. all the focus will be on Brown, Fritsch, Kozzie and Gawn/Jackson. Tmac is going to get a lesser opponent, and i see him having 25 and kicking 2-3 goals

Warning - I'm about to come across as a curmudgeonly old fool.

I like everything about this thread except the use of the word "hero". A hero is someone who fights in a war, rescues a baby from a burning home or puts themselves at risk of catching a disease by assisting others who are sick. Footballers are not heroes for being footballers.

Now, having got that off my chest, I'd like to nominate Harmes as the "unsung" player who will do something extraordinary on Grand Final Day.  Whether it's a Heath Shaw rundown smother or a Dom Sheed kick for goal, Harmes strikes me as the player who best typifies the player who can pull something special out of the bag when it's most needed.

Petty for mine. I think he takes and flogs naughton, allowing may and Lever to intercept everything keeping the dogs to under 60 points.

Good call, that would pretty much swing the game.

Can't think of any other single contest which could make so much difference compared to the pre-game assumptions and ratings, and Petty has it in him.

Another might be Ed Langdon controlling the ice-boy and winning a few counter-attacks. Dominating there would realistically stall two opposition goals and create two for us and we'd really be cooking.

Kozzie Pickett could absolutely light up the big stage as well.

It's hard to imagine a way Petracca doesn't lift in a grand final. he could win the Norm Smith by a mile

Would love for Brown to kick a bag.

Kicking a bag in a granny is a tall order for anyone

But yeah, that would be nice

It is but I think with our ball movement our forwards can expose their defence and some of our fwds could have a day out.

Christian Petracca - by a mile. Will bag 6 goals, rip the Doggies'midfielders apart on his way to perfect deliveries by foot to other Demons' forward leads, give the Buntempiliac a 'don't argue' that takes him off the ground, steam-rolls Johanneson into a blob of chewing gum stuck to the turf until taken off, and pairs with Oliver for an unstoppable midfield display. As an extra, he will even the score with a Footiskry back who punches Gawn in the back of the head for the fourth time/no penalty .

Me, if I survive the entire game…

I reckon all the supporters who have made it this far.

As an aside I was nervous last week but less so now as i really feel we have got the monkey off our back this year and i feel the whole team will do their jobs,.

I feel the same way.

Fritta to kick six.

Definitely us Melbourne supporters who get through the whole day without dying or killing anyone.

I am thinking one of Alex, Trent, Harrison, Michael, Charlie, Sparrow orJJ imagine if they all come to the party.😀💙❤️

Jack Viney looks primed and ready to deliver on two generations of desire to win this game, and his brand of hard, hard pressure and body work should fear no repercussions on GF day.

Shall hunt and hurt Libba and pop up for three clutch goals from contested ball in forward line... plus digging it out to Trac and Oliver to run riot.

Burgess has been fantastic, but superior fitness doesn't stop players copping injuries.

We've been very lucky this year.  May it continue for at least another week.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
