Well! It's Grand Final Hump Day!

In the spirit of our times, then, everyone,

RUOK?

And what will this week hold for you that last week didn't? For mine, I've found I've become progressively more relaxed and am becoming open again to other things in life and the world (though gnot all good!) And the GF is feeling more like a dream and less like a reality.

But, now,

'ALL CHANGE!'

For those who've attended a GF before - how long after the siren would you arrange your pickup/transport home? One of our party will be in wheelchair so we'll be using a charter vehicle (can't take the train) and trying to work out how much time to allow after the siren for the formalities and whatever it is they do afterwards.

Thanks!

Just checking you have got the right forum - this is is Melbourne Football Club, we aren’t very familiar with GF’s…

😂😂😂

Yes I know this is the right forum because there are plenty of people packing themselves about next Saturday. Hoping, believing we can win but also nervous because we are the MFC after all.

Anyway, I thought some of you might have been to a GF in Melbourne when some ogre teams played and might have some advice. 😀

Just don't check in

Whilst getting a coffee this week I scanned the QR code. The guy I was with said "are you sure you want to do that?"... And thus we are still in the situation we are in... 🤦‍♂️

Anyone on here crossed th Gibb River Road?

I watched the Prelim on a satellite TV at Manning Gorge. The following morning this was on a sign outside the Mt Barnett Roadhouse. ( For those that don't know -This is just about as far as you can get in Australia from the MCG!!)

Had our fist post Gibb week doing horizontal falls, derby cape Leveque and now in cable beach/Broome for some serious R&R while waiting to fly down to Perth for the GF

At the bottom was WB line-up for Prelim (vs PA), sorry for the inconvenience. The highlighted 9 players are lefties. Lefty key forward 17 Josh Bruce wasn't there because of the injury. Interchange 13 Schache is a full forward, 37 Roarke Smith is a mid/def. Check out each one of the 9 lefties' on field position. It's well known Clarkson loves lefties, Beveridge once was his assistant coach 2012--2014 (Clarkson's three-peat 2013--2015). You might like to read this article "Foot fetish that won Hawks a flag" (sorry, I failed to add the link on). It said: "If you compared all the left-footers and all the right-footers in the competition, the average kicking efficiency of left-footers was over 3 percent better."......”Coming out of defence, the Hawks almost always exited stage left.”......“Attacks were mounted from there, with Melbourne often helpless to stop the precise kicking.”
Back to WB, among the 9 lefties, 7 of them are mainly attack-lefties, playing as a mid or a forward. In my view, the best way for them to launch an attack is through their left side, to get more lefties involved in a play better - which they did just like that in Prelim. I believe their lefties’ line-up for Granny will be very similar to the one displayed at the bottom. From each game’s line-up, 15 Duryea has played 24 games out of 25 this year so far, 6 games as an IC, 16 games on right side, only 2 games on left side--Rd 9 and Prelim (both vs PA). 29 Hannan has played 16 games out of 25, 4 games as an IC, 8 games on right side, one game in central, 3 games on left side--Rd7 vs Richmond; Rd19 vs Melb (he actually played on right side that night) and Prelim vs PA. What I like to say is had they used the line-up for the Prelim against us in Rd11 and Rd19, we would have had much more headaches. If you watch the replay of those 3 games--their Prelim, Rd11 and 19 against us--you could see the difference, they launched much more attacks through their left side in Prelim with good results. AFL website/Match offers the replay videos.
In Rd19, a WB’s goal at 3ndQt 7:30 (replay time, not Ch7’s remaining time on screen) and another WB’s goal at 4thQt 17:59--showed you how hard it is to defend a gang of lefties in front of your goal square. The 1st one was through 33-21-29-38(a righty)-33-17, the 2nd one was through 11-21-4. 4 or 5 lefties like Viney or Kozzie type might have been able to stop that chain of play. Lefties know other lefties' tricks better. At 3ndQt 29:57 and 4thQt 9:50, Viney showed us how good a lefty he is, marvelous! Is kozzie a lefty or righty, does the answer even matter? have them in our team, just give you a wonderful feeling.

Go Viney, go Kozzie, go the mighty Dees!

If anyone wants to watch all the hitouts so far from 2021 between the two teams:

Great package. A massive reminder of how poorly our mids played in the rd19 game. Really fumbly in the wet. Too man little flick handballs. We won’t do that this week. Surprised to see how many stoppages ANB attended in that game too.

I left the 88 GF in the third quarter. I can't quite remember whether I left the 2000 GF before the end. I was with my son (he was 7) so I probably stayed to the (bitter) end.

Horrible day, but I think we all saw it coming   that's why I smuggled a bottle of Bourbon in to the ground)

DITCHA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I attended some of the training today. Richo spoke to me and said not to believe what is in the media, as we will good this year. Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.  KE
