I am way out of the loop, is Weid out of contract?? I thought he had a year left.

I reckon he is the future, i wouldn't be letting him walk, but we will see what happens.

Ideal situation is for Weid to want Collingwood, and North to be keen through PSD, so Collingwoods pick won’t do it & they have to deal.

Welcome B Maynard to replace an ageing Hibberd.

Outgoing GC GM just stated on SEN that he believes they need a ready made key forward to assist King.  What would people's opinion be to see Weiderman traded for their current pick 19?

19 for weid is a fantastic deal.

I really would be stressed about our lack of back up key forwards however.

I think this is the strange thing with Weid.  He's not in our best 22 so unlikely to attract a pick that good.  At the same time if he goes, we have no backup forward unless one of Smith / Petty / Tomlinson can do it but none are proven.

So we trade Weid and draft a kid to develop with whatever picks we have.... but Weid was a top 10 pick (we won't have something that high) and has already built his body and knows the gameplan.  Everyone knows most key forwards take a bit of time.... what if he's about to click?

I want him to stay for insurance / our future... but if I as advising him I'd prob tell him to look for other options as he only gets a game now if Brown / TMac or Jackson are injured and even then it's not guaranteed (eg Melksham playing when TMac was injured)

So Weid is more value to another club than ours, that means we can use the value we get in other ways like Cerra ... moneyball at its best ... re a back up forward, yes we will need to think it through but .. we can actually play with just the 2 tall's rather than 3 ... we can also deploy Petty or Tomlinson forward ... we can also trade in a mature forward like Adelaide's Lynch or Carlton's Casboult for a pack of chips (or even text Jon Patton about this availability) ... would we prefer to keep Weid playing the 2's or get Cerra who will help our 1's?

Lynch would be okay, Caboult is cooked, Patton - you've got your hand on it (or is it his?).

If we traded Weid we would immediately be looking for a replacement- we have no back up talls for the forward half and ours all have injury history and are old.

But why would you waste one moment of your life worrying about how to replace a bloke who can rarely get a game and when he does he brings a trampoline chest and headless chook leading patterns?

We need to trade this bloke while we can still get something in return.

Because I don't think he is a headless chook, and I think his hands will come good, and he is a beautiful kick. I also think he can tackle hard and exert fwd pressure which is a must. I just don't see anything else on the market with the same (potential granted) upside. If you know of another King or Mckay going early 2nd round let me know, everyone else is pretty meh from my POV.

It would want to be a good deal for Weid AND he would have to be driving it. He was pretty solid in 2020 and had a stress fracture in his hip which ruined his preseason this year. The guy is clearly a real confidence player, I'd still love to see what Goody and Choco can get out of him next year with a full preseason.

He's just coming to the years when he is going to be at his most capable of making an impact. He needs to look for a club that will give him a shot at the full forward role for a couple of years. We aren't ready to do that till maybe 2023 so he should look around and we should value him highly. 19 is about right.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
