I don't see why the WA government can't allow some sort of FIFO arrangement for VIC based fans like the UK did for itallians in the euro 2020 final. Test before the game, negative, fly in shuttle to the ground fly out no contact with the public barring those in the stadium.

Because Mark McGowan.

Because macgowan wants to be reelected and he couldnt care about melbourne (non wa)supporters

About 7 weeks ago I booked seat to Perth  thinking Gf was heading that way in case we were getting out of covid . About 4 weeks ago when donut day lasted 3 hours and we went from 1 to 6 and lockdown 666 came in , thought I was cooked . Sadly I will cancel in a few weeks

I don’t think I could seriously indulge myself in that. As my uncle who’s in poor health is living with my father, I can visit as a carer. Watching it with dad is more important than being there. Youngest brother wants to go, but won’t unless we make it for sure. Bit hard when you need to quarantine.

Luckily for me South Australians are now able to travel to WA without quarantining,

If we do make the GF the only issue would be potentially travelling with a plane full of Port Adelaide Supporters, basically hell on an aircraft.

The cost and inconvenience of doing that has ruled me out. How much did the hotel cost you for the quarantine period?

I had to quarantine in a hotel last year. All up $3600 for the fortnight. I did it in Adelaide but I’m guessing the cost wouldn’t vary much.

Victorians can’t even quarantine in WA for 14 days unless they have a special exemption.

Well there you go

I'm just hoping I'll be able to watch it with my mate across the road here in Melbourne. I really don't want to be watching the game at home with no other Dees supporters.

But if I can give my guaranteed ticked to a mate in Perth so they get to go it'll make me that little bit happier about me not being able to

Those of us stuck in Victoria need to accept that we won’t be able to attend the GF (should we earn our place).

A vast majority of GF teams supporters don’t get to go, especially interstate teams, so I’m not too upset. Can’t change what you can’t control. If we’re in it, I’ll happily be cheering on watching the TV. I’d happily sacrifice attending a GF, if it meant the Dees got to participate and dare i hope, win a GF.

There’s no “I” in team.

And if anything went wrong with the pilot you’d clearly have the responsibility of landing that big bird

But there is a “me” and me paid for a guaranteed ticket and me wants to go

Should we get in

Bit superstitious, so had to add in the last line

I think WA will open the border to QLD once they go 28 days without community transmission.

I think you’re every chance.

At the moment you can at the very least do 14 days quarantine. VICs won’t even be afforded that luxury unless they have a special reason to enter the state.

Thanks BBP will further check tomorrow !

I have booked a hotel in Perth to quarantine. Not sure of logistics beyond this, but as a MFC/MCC Premium Member I get a guaranteed GF Ticket. I  intend to use it.....  even if I am stuck in a hotel for one week or even two.  Who is joining me?

Victorians are banned from WA.

So, basically the plot of Snakes on a Plane?

Unless “me” is in WA, it ain’t gonna happen Wiz. You can thank McGowan, and more broadly COVID for that.

McGowan was just re-elected with a Massive Majority reflecting WA's approval of his approach.

Once vaccination gets to 70% and then 80% McGowan will be faced with some challenging choices.

I am a chance to go if we make it, I will be driving for about 2.5 days, arriving at ground, watching game and driving 2.5 days back, starting the evening after the game.

if I am to commit such madness, I will be hoping for some help getting a ticket here.

Why would they do this when they will easily sell out the game without any interstate attendees?

To answer the question in the OP I'm pretty sure Pert already answered this (or a members email) saying the GF guarantee tickets are strictly non-transferable meaning you cannot buy one and pass it on. Of course there are probably ways around this but I assume the main reason is to stop scalping (what's to stop members buying a ticket and then selling it at an exorbitant price and then claiming they gave it to a "friend"?)

The plus side is if you are a member and can attend in WA you should be able to get a ticket as the majority of MFC members would live in Melbourne and so we would be unlikely to fill the quota of MFC member allotments for the GF in Perth.

To be honest I doubt that that will change his mind, fortress WA.

Anyway, if we can't get to the GF in Perth this year, we can watch the next two at the G

As a WA member I'm just hoping I'll get a look in at tickets to the Prelim and beyond!

One would assume afl will want ground filled with  as many club supporters of competing clubs  , mcg normally is 20k per club for normal membership . One would assume wa members of clubs would get an offer before general public . But who knows and good luck

No Victorian resident will be allowed into WA for the GF unless the state's status changes, and that ain't gonna happen 😪.

Same here, hope to get a Prelim ticket and take it from there.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
