This year the players have been one big family.   I would hate to see it broken up.

Kids do grow up and move out.

The coach for Carlton is now Voss and I believe he will move heaven or earth to get Cerra because he needs to make the finals in the next 2 years and he needs the midfield cattle to get it done.

Voss will try to paint a rosy picture for Cerra and pay a lot more, if Melbourne wins the Grand Final I think Cerra will chose us because our upside will be much higher with him in the side otherwise he will probably chose Carlton.

I don't doubt Cerra is a talented player.

For me it's about role and team balance. Petracca has publically praised both Spaz and Jordan as allowing him to be a better player for the roles they play on the team.

Will be interesting to see where Cerra fits in the team if he does come.

For me it all depends on the price we need to pay Freo and how it affects the team. But I will say I trust out FD, if we are chasing Cerra there is a good reason for it.

Interesting times.

Our side has added a number of players May, Lever, B Brown, Langdon, Hibberd, Melksham that have made us better and those players have added to the culture of the club.

Jones has retired, Jetta will most likely do the same, AVB is borderline, TMac gets a new deal that we all expect is deferring some cash.  We have a list that can have sustained success, this year is the start we want 5-6 years of finals and premierships.  Cerra would be a great addition, he adds to our midfield and basically replaces Jones on our list.

We don't need to add kids in this draft, trade picks get Cerra, elevate D Smith to primary list and get Woey Junior with last pick or add the other player from our NGA.  It would be a different story if we thought we could get Mac Andrew as we would need points to cover, with that looking unlikely we can use future first and our first 2 pick this year to try and get something Dockers will accept.

I wouldn't. I know both Sparrow and Jordon are rated extremely highly internally, but Cerra is better then them.

Every year you need to find ways to better your list.

Getting Cerra makes our list significantly better.

Sorry daz, but there is no way I'd be trading out Sparrow and Jordon. They have been great role players for us this year, and both show greater potential coming. Why risk this? If Cerra were to nominate us, I'd see the Club using players like Baker, Bedford, Lockhart  and Chandler as more likely trade offerings, rather than Sparrow and Jordon. (although I'd hate to see any of them go).

All these guys are worth absolutely nothing.

If that's the case, then the Cerra deal, if its to be done, will be with current and future picks, because I'm positive the Club would not trade out Sparrow and Jordon. If it did, then Club culture would be out the door, and greed will have replaced it. And that is not how I see our Club proceeding. But just my thoughts

I've heard he's as good as ours from someone who would know (for whatever that's worth)

I have also heard the same. No party wants it be a distraction from our assault on the premiership. Total trust in the club to make it happen. Not something I would have said years ago.

Just bought The Footy Record from the Newsagents.
(Wish i was buying it at The Ground)

Have they added Cerra to our full list yet?

Trades are not all one-sided affairs.

Jordon and Sparrow would not be the first fringe players to leave a top team for opportunity elsewhere?

I hope they both stay as I like them a lot

You’ve got to give something, to get something. And because we know our players better than we know other clubs players, we often put a higher value on the Dees players, than what they would get on the open market

Change that name to Cloko and i would have agreed, Voss not so much.

Would we listen to offers for Tommlinson? given Petty imo has overtaken him, he'd have some currancy to potentially get one of these deals done

I see it differently.

I'm hazarding a guess that Cerra and his manager have already made up their minds and the desired club knows. Perhaps a nominal agreement has been reached by both clubs, or at least a rough expectation of what each party wants.

Of course, trade week can throw up unexpected outcomes, but most players and clubs want a degree of certainty in advance. Look at the panic and irrationality when Neale supposedly wanted to return to Freo.

I have no idea if Cerra wants to be a Dee, but probably he knows already and I think our chances are pretty good.

I don't really want him. Our bargaining chip in the Weid has signed on. I'd rather keep Sparrow and Jordon. I don't see what we have to give now. Cerra can rot at Carltank.

I'm not sure the Weid has the value we may think he was unfortunately.

Yes, given the Weid had little interest from other clubs, his trade value would make no difference to any deal.

If there are player/s involved we might have to face the prospect they could be playing on Saturday

If he nominates us I'm hoping our current pick 33 and a future 1st might get it done. Don't think that's enough

I was told of two young players who may be involved in trades (neither are locks in our best 22, no-one from the 2019 draft trio)

Take it with a grain of salt however, just passing on the message

I hope one of them is not Hunt...😟

It's likely going to have to be someone contracted then, so either someone is going 'home' or we're forcing someone out.

None of the uncontracted players we have at this stage have any trade value.

I love hunt..and Im crossing my fingers he's the medi sub. But if it was Hunt I could live with it. Both sparrow and Jordon feel like bigger losses. When we've watched a player develop and see him finally starting to re become what he showed us a few seasons back  its hard to let go. But I think you'd have to agree that losing hunt to bring in Cerra is a def step up. You cant stand still in this game...flags or no.  If you're too content and not moving forward you're simply getting passed by other clubs.

He played every game before injury. Why would he want to leave?

Can't see Dogga going. He's more important to our future than Cerra. Enormous upside

Unless Jackson wants to go home, its no effing way

I wouldn't trade 2 Cerras for Jackson.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
