Apologies to Spargo whose two snaps in the last were huge. Harmes had a good second half.

Bompt has been relatively quiet the last two weeks while Oliver probably got 3 votes today and maybe 1 vote last week. I think it will be very close.

I took a multi early in the season: Melbourne and Casey premiership and Oliver Brownlow. $10 @ $129.77. Pretty happy abput that.

6 Gawn (goal aside, his final qtr was sublime)

5 Oliver (stiff not to get the six but Gawn's influence was absolutely irreplaceable when we made our move)

4 Lever

3 Salem

2 Viney (9 tackles when we were struggling to stick them)

1 Kozzy (not his best game but 14 touches, 3 goals and looked dangerous)

Dangerfield 0 possessions in the last quarter when it mattered? Really just cancels out the rest of his game.

One of those matches impossible to pick the 3,2 1s but I thought whipping boy Harmes deserved some more credit, was pretty solid all night and involved in some huge plays.

Agree. Harmes was ok to good.  Loves the contest.   But his disposal is terrible.  Seems to get stuck on his left foot a lot to kick.  Decision making dubious. Improvement ahead to get back to 2018 form.

85% disposal efficiency from his 26 touches last night.

He was a lot better than OK to good Norm but as I said a very hard task to do votes,  so many great contributers

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
