So Hibb for Hunt.

Would have liked to have seen Baker in for AVB for this match at least.

Gus plays AVB's minutes in the middle.  Baker covers Gus's wing for this match.  If Gus goes down between now and finals or in finals i would be reluctant to look at Baker with only one AFL match under his belt many months ago.

Like to see how his disposal goes under AFL heat as well.  One of the quickest in the team, he could also (potentially) play the Hunt role (in the short term) if Hibb goes down as a last resort until Hunt returns.

Didn’t see Bedford coming.

AVB gets another crack. Gotta wonder when we’ll see Chunk again.

Would like to see Weids and BBB work together in the forward area. They did alright out at Casey.

Vanders and Sparrow struggled in Perth, so both out for me.

Interchange could be:

Jackson, Jordon, Weids and either Hibbo or Smith.

Hibbo is a known quantity, so Smith  to get a run and see if he fits in, Hibbo as med sub.

Not sure there is a forward position for Bedford unless they go small and have given up on the Weid.

Weid in, given we have no TMac?

Or stay short given O'Brien is out?

I’d go short as Adelaide’s only chance is to play a fast ground level game. Also, Weideman doesn’t need to audition for finals while every small on our list good enough does. We all know that if McDonald or Brown go down in a prelim (says 77 hail Mary’s) Weid is straight in. But what if ANB gets injured, or (says 777 Hail Mary’s) Ed Langdon?

We need to know who comes in for them.

Thought the same, and wondered if Toby has been included to give Koz a break, after the s#!t he copped on social media after the WC game.  Goodie suggested that it cut him pretty deep.

Looks like it's just Hibbo in for Hunt I like it would be nice if Jones could get a gig at least as a sub maybe later in the year. I think vandenBerg will be in the 22 for his 50th and Sparrow the sub.

gotta stick with our preferred dry weather mcg structure

IN: hibberd, weideman
OUT: hunt (inj.), avb

avb for medi-sub

vandenberg was already the sub. Jordon or Sparrow must go out then.

Weid needs to come into the side. At the very least to get some match fitness.

Hibbert in for Hunt.

Sparrow perhaps lucky to keep his place in the side. Jordon to stay too.

Don't want to see Baker, AVB, Jones or Belford in the side. None of them should be in a finals side, although I'd be happy enough for Jones to be the med sub.

My guess is Weid and Hibbo for Hunt and Vanders. Sparrow sub.
I think we need to stick with the two tall structure on the dry MCG track if that’s what we want to do in finals.

I would go Jackson, Jordan, Sparrow and Bedford as IC with Hibberd as Sub.

That would give us a reasonable midfield rotation and might allow Kossie a bit more time in the middle with Bedford covering forward.

So the four ins join Jackson, vandenBerg, Jordon and Sparrow on the bench.

Jackson's not going anywhere so vandenBerg, Jordon and Sparrow are likely to be the candidates to make way for Weideman, which IMO is the move we should make, get back to our preferred forward line mix ready for TMac's return.

I'd go Weid for vandenBerg along with Hibberd for Hunt, with one of Jordon/Sparrow the sub.

I doubt Bedford will ever make it at AFL level, but perhaps he deserves one more chance.

Wll, we've all made quotes like that which have come back and bitten us on the butt. So I hope you're wrong

I’d be extremely happy to be wrong.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
