Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That’s interesting. How do you know this, and do you know what it was for? Love to know what role he was playing.

I saw it on Kayo, 3qtr time huddle, coaches were talking - team-mates patting Harmes on the back and ruffling his hair, Harmes smiling.

For those complaining about goal kicking accuracy, it probably pays to get a little more forensic than merely looking at goals and points.

I find the AFL app (surprisingly) good at giving a breakdown.

By my reckoning, that's 18 goals kicked, plus 13 points kicked (5 posters) and 7 rushed behinds.

That’s a great bit of info - so in terms of shots on goal it was actually 18.13, of which 5 behinds hit the post. As you say, the stats tell a different story to the score line.

Loved the pressure all game.

ANB’s run down in the last typified their attitude.

Yep he didnt star but I though he played a huge part in our pressure game today, Great effort.

Bowey looked right at home, although the test will come when he actually has to defend as Gold Coast offered nothing today.

Oliver’s 1st half was top shelf, even by his lofty standards.

It's doing my head in. There's no doubt we should be happy about the win....if you actually want to be happy. Hard going reading relentlessly negative comments.

Yep, there’s plenty of time before the next match to address the negatives.
But ffs enjoy today’s thumping win! Even if only for a few hours.

1.

This is now Melbourne's best odd-numbered year since 1955 (yes, the start of our premiership run)

2.

Clayton Oliver + Luke Jackson =

5 goals, 7 tackles, 23 contested possessions, 15 clearances.

All seven Collingwood players under 26 combined in yesterday's 'youthful triumph' over West Coast =

5 goals, 12 tackles, 29 contested possessions, 3 clearances.

I just find it funny, is all.

That was the most enjoyable game for me this year. No weak links. Never threatened. Just class all the way. A great game to take us into the west coast one. I know we won’t be able to play that dominately against top teams, but I do hope this brings up their confidence. Well done boys

I thought Harmes’ second half was ok. He still provides good contest work. I’m more worried about Jack Viney. I’d be very happy to see Jones come in and replace him.

Kind of funny that 2 of our poor performers today each had a chance to get us the 100+ win but both failed.

Harmes got accolades at the 3qtr time huddle. He's locked in for now.

I don’t know why Harmes is locked in. I am one of his biggest fans. But he is not using the ball right, nor making smart decisions with ball in hand. I rate Harmes - and highly - but he needs to sharpen up his disposal. Also, his goal kicking is horrendous.

I know this is a post game thread but with this performance Dew is surely going to come under the spot light and I wouldn’t be surprised of another player exodus. I reckon we prey on some of their more experienced talent where they may want to experience success and finals in place of $$$ I know they are after leadership and would not want to part way with someone like Touk but he would be such an asset to our midfield brigade. I’d take him over Maynard and another forward option. Anybody know his contract  situation?

I stepped away during the last quarter just after we cracked the tone. Am I allowed to be a little disappointed that we didn’t finish 100+ in front? I mean I didn’t even see the last quarter misses and I know we missed some absolutely basic chances during the match.

Obviously I am very happy overall, some important players managed to get some form, and we finally destroyed a team which was what we’ve all waited for. Clarry was just given a license to kill, Petracca couldn’t be stopped, and our forward pressure was huge.

Again it seems ridiculous to say, but very disappointed in one player in particular: Jack Viney. I have been a long time fan AND when he is at his simple best he can do some great things. But FMD, he must have broken a record for being caught Holding the Ball today. Particularly given we absolutely dominated them. He should be held back and sent to VFL for his efforts, but he’s held in such a big regard by the coaching staff I can’t see it happening. He had a game that was reminiscent of Spargo’s first round last year v WC. He was a liability, and I hate saying that.

On the positive side of things though, ACTION JACKSON!!!

Great pressure today. When we bring the pressure we can easily brush aside the mid to lower teams and give ourselves a chance against the better teams.

Hopefully the weeks we've taken it easy this year don't cost us too much in the end...and even more hopefully one of these pressure driven victories will help it sink in that we need to bring it more consistently.

We can’t play Viney and Sparrow in the same team again.

Both have a fetish for poor turnovers and holding the ball.

I’m a Harmes fan but he was shocking today. He plays his best football as a tagger but we don’t play him that way which is odd.

McDonald’s goal kicking is a huge worry, Langdon hasn’t been good for two months and overall we are a much sloppier version of the team at the start of the year.

I hope we start rotating more players through the team because too many are comfortable with their spots and living off past performances.

Just a typical Clint Bizkit post full of negativity. You weren’t expecting such a win in your pre game posts, but even after a 98 point win, still not happy FFS, might be time to come clean that you don’t follow us

Loved the pressure today, unrelenting and got a lot of boys touch! Hopefully this will be the kickstart we need leading into the finals. Demons fans are the harshest fans! 98 point win guys!!!!! It’s been a while since I was that relaxed at half time! Carn the Dees!

Should be our mantra every game we play. We rely on good tackling pressure

Well, if that was a corner, we just turned it!
Sure the Suns were innocuous, but we didn’t allow ourselves to be dragged down to their level.
Pressure in all parts of the ground was elite, and that’s the foundation of our game plan.
Lots to like, lots to build on, as we move towards the pointy end.
Looking forward to a nice Shiraz.

I appreciate Harmes' effort but he just isn't quick-thinking enough to be given attacking responsibility. Genuine tagger role or not in the team.  I'd certainly rather have Jordon on the field.

Speaking of young players I'd like to see on the field more - how about that Bowey? A debut game without a single ####-up!

That win has me not only feeling better about the rest of this season, but has reminded me of just how many quality kids we have.

It was good to sit back and watch a game and not be too stressed.

When we bring the pressure and intensity from the first bounce we can really set up the way we want to play.

Forward line starting to gel, there were signs last week  in the wet and missing a few, but we are getting some good looks.

Viney is a liability - repeatedly caught when trying to break through tackles.....when will the penny drop. The goal kicking remains below par.

On the upside BB showed a great deal of footy smarts and Jackson had the opportunity to recapture lost confidence.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
