Tried to win by waiting to the last. Controlled it for most of the quarter but could not buy a goal.  Some really poor decisions, while I don't blame hunt for the loss, gee. kick it earlier.

Too many fumbles and lack of intense pressure around the ball for most of the game...

Fortunately there is always next week, but we need a solid fwd target.  Looks like BBB is the only option.  Time to find out.

Petracca can’t kick a set shot from 25m straight in front. WTF

Hunt, Harmes and Petty don’t cope under finals type pressure and we need to try others out that can handle it.

7 goals 13. And around 3 shots that’s didn’t even register

Yep that was bad. Now lost to Crows, Magpies and Giants. All well below us on ladder. It basically has stuffed our chances of a top 2 finish let alone top 4 but then again we might come out next week and beat Port BUT not with this team.

Why get BBB in to the club if you are not going to play him? Goodwin you are a goose who needs to have a good hard look at himself. Kicking scores of less than ten goals a week is not good enough.

Anyone who wants to sell their MFC premiership bets, I'll pay them out and take 'em on. PM me with your offers. .

Lost at the selection table. Why play Sparrow if you don't trust him with 55% game time. Surely Brown plays next week?

Pickett and Spargo look woefully out of form at the moment. Witches hats in forward 50

Melksham does way more

People will pick on Hunt but FMD there are 18 players out there who did SFA today. At least Hunt tried to do something.

Exactly

Serious problems to address:

1. Midfield depth - Petracca and Oliver as our only guns is not enough; Viney is, to put it midly, "working his way into it", while Harmes is limited and not to be relied on
2. Forward structure - this is dictated a lot by how much time the ball spends in our back half (i.e., by point 1), but even when we win the ball the player with possession rarely seems to know who to kick it to, because there's no one there demanding the football.

I think we could possibly win a premiership this year if Oliver and Petracca go gangbusters in September, but it's not sustainable because it's a reliance on too few in that area. When they're down or outworked, we'll lose because we simply need to get it inside 50 a lot in order score because of point 2.

As for point 2 - please can we pick the Coleman medallist sitting on our list?

I hope that [censored] hurts.

This pattern of not starting will hurt us more as the season continues. Teams will know to come out hard, get a lead and try to hang on until the end of the game. Most teams will be willing to back their backline to hold us late. All season this happened and it all starts with a lack of intensity in the midfield.

T Mc is a mobile CHF, let him play as one, but FFS we can't rely on Fritta to be our primary target in the forward line. Brown needs to come into the side and if not play one of Gawn or Jackson out of the square.

Backline was good again today, all our issues are forward of centre.

I would have VDB in a heart beat at least hurts the opposition. Our midfield is like butter

Do you really believe BBB would have made the difference, you still have to kick it to him. Number of time we had free players forward and they kicked to a contest was doing my head in.

At least the TV commentary confirmed Eddie is a total sea hunt.

We lost this one in the guts and [censored] kicking for goal.

But if umpire 6 is officiating the grannie, and we’re in it, then there’s no way he’s going to let us get over the line. He stiffed us in the Sydney game as well. Thanks to whoever shot his dog.

We desperately needed another kpf.  I hope BBB kills it for Casey tonight.

Yes.... Pickett in front of Brown to pick up the crumbs would have been better..   we have no full forward except Fritsch

As much as I love him, Hunt reminds me of Frost sometimes… incredible speed and gains a lot of metres but has the footy IQ of a goldfish

He is so NOT the problem!

Yep Petty was poor today, not clean too many mistakes. Reads it very well but caused dangerous turnovers too often. Hunt could not have played worse in the last quarter. Have no idea what he was thinking.

If Brown is running at me I'll kick it to him. If some other random is there waving his arms around I might not. You've got to make it easy for the guy delivering the ball to make the right decision. Also, Brown kicks goals when he get is, unlike a lot of others I might mention currently trespassing in the Melbourne forwardline.

No sorry. The only benefit would be Fritsch could become a very dangerous second forward.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
