It should be James Jordon has been consistent week in and out since round 1 with few exceptions. It won't be because he's not a flashy player but I'd have him ahead of Jackson this season. Jackson, Rivers, Jordon, Pickett, Sparrow, Petty, Spargo, Fritsch a pretty handy collection from a triumvirate of drafts. If Bowey, Laurie and Rosman come on JT will go down as a legend of the club.

I love a good consistent hard working no fuss player.  Absolutely no pretention - a quality country kid. Fast becoming my favourite. 

Kingy diverting attention away from JJ, doesn't want to lower the odds after he placed a fat stack on him I reckon

Strange year in The Rising Star award.
No real, absolute standout young players, but a huge number of very good youngsters with massive potential.  

Jackson is nowhere near the dominant force that Hogan was in 2015, but you can see the immense player that he could develop into.

Reckon Jordon and Rivers have been more consistent than Jackson this year.

Not going to disagree but much easier to be consistent in those roles. Also, in the case of JJ, he's seems as close to a finished product as any player his age. Rivers has had the chance to play along side the best two defensive leaders in the game.

While neither of those two points should negate their consideration for the award, LJ is a genuine rising star and I've always thought this award was more about picking the next big thing rather than just simply choosing the best performed young player.

The peptides kids look very very good.They have cleaned up recently.

Lets hope they all fail to develop.......

in terms of who I love the most. I think I love Rivers the most. But our 2019 draftees need to be signed up and extended for as long as possible.

Yea i think this is fair enough. LJ is just going to be a weapon in a few years and will have match winning influence in games.   

Jordan reminds me of a young Joel Selwood.  Hard at it and courageous from day one. Selwood came into that Cats team which already had a star midfield and averaged 20 touches/5 tackles his first year once he settled.

I enjoyed the rap on 360, but like a few others am a fan of Rivers and Jordan for their game long consistency over Dogga, in this season for the rising star. But long term Dogga is going to be massive. But like King said Dogga defies expectations, King called him Kouta, very high praise.

I have always thought once nominated the winner of the rising star should be a player that has played 10+ games in the season and if you were redrafting those nominated with 10+ Games what order would you take them in. Jackson for me. 

I'd have Jordon ahead of Jackson personally.

I would agree for consistency, however Jackson plays a much more difficult role for a young player and is definitely someone who has a higher ceiling. 
Very few 19 year olds would be taking ruck time away from Gawn. 

Those saying Jordon ahead of Jackson are nuts,  Jackson is a 2m tall midfield/ruck/forward absolutely insane how some people think around here.

Definitely don't think Jordon will be better than Jackson long term, but I do think he is having a more consistent season for 2021.

Whilst I do agree with all of that and have loved watching Jackson's development. 

But people have underestimated how bloody hard Jordon has worked to get into the position he has. Was picked up in the draft in the 2nd round when many draft experts tipped him to be a rookie draft selection.

He's then had to tailor away in the VFL for 2 years with disruption last year through injury. Was delisted then picked up as a rookie. Puts in a fantastic summer to the point where the coaching staff have no choice but to pick him.

Prior to the bye he was top 3 in the AFL for tackles and is currently averaging 18 disposals per game playing in one of the best midfield in the comp. Not only that he's actually having huge impact on games with his toughness and hardness, but also his ability with his two way running. 

Obviously I am bit bias because I've known Jimmy since primary school days as he's best mates with my little brother, so bit of conflict of interest I try to avoid discussions around him on here. But even to my surprise his development has been absolutely through the roof. 

Just feel like Jordons consistency has been much more apparent then Jacksons. Jackson may well win the RS, but I love the Diamond in rough types like Jordon.

As with all comparative awards based on such variable criteria, it’s really a bit of silly fun. JJ and Dogga are very different players of whom different things are expected and required. That they’ve both jumped to ‘undroppable’ status so quickly is remarkable, particularly as to those outside the club, including us, JJ is a completely unexpected gift. In the space of 14 games, he’s already the complete footballer …. Hard, smart, on the pace, good hands everywhere, great tackler, decision maker and user. Unglamorous no doubt, but hardly less valuable than Dogga to a successful ‘team’.

The 2019 class plus Jordon in 2018 is the kind of drafting we can build a dynasty on. These kids are unreal!

It's truly amazing how far we've come with our drafting.

We all know about the nightmares of the 2000's but the early 2010's weren't any better. For example, 2011 we drafted 7 players across the national and rookie draft and those 7 players combined for a total of... 47 senior games. Amazing.

The upswing really began in 2013 when we picked up Salem, Hunt and Harmes in the same draft, though even 2015 is iffy, with Oliver the only one excelling. Jury still well and truly out on Weideman obviously.

2016 was a fail with none of the players we drafted still listed while from 2017, as you've noted, we started really nailing our picks.
