I found it amusing that after 5 years and into the third quarter they started booing Hibberd. Got a laugh out of that one.

The absolute highlight for me was the double 50 metre penalty!

Not because of the penalty itself, nor the fact that it gifted us an important goal. No! It was because I was picturing the absolute apoplectic rage of the Essendon supporters and wishing I was there to see it live.

I didn't know whether to laugh, cry, or wet myself while dribbling Shiraz out of my nose.

And to think people say you shouldn't bask in the misfortune of others!

Not surprised BBO that  you appreciated  the mass self flagellation spectacle of the druggie fans.

The camera panning over the Essendon supporters as the double 50 was awarded

When the second 50 was given, I knew it was because of Smith mouthing off. I screamed out " Tell him what you think Devon !! "

The bombers fans around me were ropable!! So funny !!

Lowlight of the game was some [censored] stealing a top from the Demon Shop at half time. I went down to get the number 5 put on my son's guernsey and the staff realised someone had bolted out and stolen a sweater or hoodie or something. I mean seriously, if you barrack for the club why would you pinch something from their own store???

They were booing him from the start of the match.
Imagine being that deluded that you think players you injected with drugs and took away an entire year of their career had no right to leave?!
You clap that wife cheating gambler Stringer but boo Hibberd. All [censored] class Essendon.

Essendon supporters are the absolute worst. Anyone remember this classless display?

That’s there supporter base in a nutshell.

They grew up in the 80’s and 90’s thinking footy was winning a flag every second year and always being near the top. They are the epitome of entitled.

And now their delusional relationship with cult figures from that era has put that club back 20 years. Most of them still think they should get Sheeds and Hirdy back and it’ll be just like 1993 again.

They embarrassed themselves last night and, even worse, their incessant booing and appealing for frees clearly influenced their team.  Even the players were waving their hands around for ridiculous, non-existent free kicks in the last quarter, instead of focusing on the next contest.

I swear that Essendon supporter wanted a free kick. Just poety.

Yeah, that was priceless. And the fact that it’s garnering a fair bit of attention speaks to the culture of our club, IMO. I mean, how many players from oppo clubs, in Tracc’s position of having just kicked a goal, engage with the crowd in aggressive, belligerent ways? Tonnes of them, right? But our players are generally classier than that. (Let’s for a moment pretend Tomas Bugg never existed. ?)

As we were walking out of the ponsford essendrug supporters yelled 'you can thank the umpires melbourne' so I cleverly yelled back' essendon are a pack of whingers.' They stopped and turned around wanting to go on with it.....fortunately my 6 foot 4 inch 97 kilo (first ruck for Kew Rovers U 15 gold.......top of the ladder in YJFL) son was with me and one look at him and they were on their not so merry way. Ha! Enjoy Dees....Enjoy!!  Ha !

Dam, wish you had filmed that, would have been great to see?

My highlight was Fritta helping that fool into the point post and then skipping away like nothing happened.
Looks like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth but he's sneaky mean as previously shown with his don't argue elbow.
Love it.

Essendon have the worst supporters full stop. Can't stop complaining against the umpires. Drug cheats rot in hell.

Highlight for me was the final siren and the chorus of boos from the cheats.

The belting out of the song from the MCG loud speakers, Its a grand old flag its a high flying flag felt special, which completely drowned the pack of A holes out.

I thought Parish on the final siren made a massive [censored] of himself. Mouthing off at the umpire because his team mate didn't get paid a mark at half back when they are down 2 goals down.

As I mentioned on the other thread they are a stain on the competition, love that we only ever play them once a year. Couldn't stand being forced to watch Essendon more than once a year.

I hope they enjoy the next 6141 days the flogs.

There was something really ordinary about the Ess supporters

there was a lot of heated exchanges around me in the members with verbal insults

The Ess supporters barracking was extremely provocative

Anyway they left pretty well on the siren the booing was very bad and lasted all game

The double 50 almost caused a meltdown hhahhahahhahah

I thought the umpiring was pretty bad and favored us way too much. Id be upset if i was a bummers fam.

About time though.

The biggest highlight was Tom macca's overhead snap on goal.

The MACCAS momemt sign then came on screen.

I think if you watch the replay, yes we got some favourable calls, but there were quite a few non calls that went against us too. Rivers a clear push in the back with a couple of minutes to go. Kossi taken high. Etc etc. 2 meter Peter paid a mark that well, wasn't really a mark.

I too would be annoyed at the umpiring if the shoe was on the other foot, but to blame the loss on them is ridiculous. There are only 3 games this year that were won and lost due to the umpiring, and all were decided by 1-2 points. 11 points win with 6 more scoring shots is simply not a win handed to a team by the umpires. It just isn't.

We got out to a 21 point lead at one point. No matter how bad the umpiring is, it won't do that for you!

It's an interesting one, i've been to 8 games this year and it's the first time opposition fans have interacted with me in a negative manner after the game.

I was leaving the G alone and had several unprovoked comments directed at me by Essendon fans

  • 'How much did you pay the umpires?"
  • "Free Kick Melbourne"
  • "Have you seen the police anywhere? The Bombers just got robbed"
  • "Go to the snow"
  • "Can't wait until you lose again"

Like they were all harmless comments overall, but in the 7 other games I've been to, nothing said to me but somehow from leaving the ground to the corner of Bridge/Punt I copped 5 random comments aha

Had lovely opposition fans next to me in certain games (Hawks/Saints) and had very civil conversations with them during the game about the state of play etc.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
