BBB might end up a rare flop from our recruiting department at this rate ...

I don't rate him that highly anyway, much rather more game time into Weideman

It’s 12 games into a 4 year contract snd he was on the sidelines for 12 weeks.

I don't think he'll ever fully recover from the knee issues, ergo he may end up being a flop. I don't think that's a controversial position to take.

In fairness you know nothing and just assuming

One good full preseason under Burgo and BBB will bounce back like TMac has. We have a bad habit of writing our players off far too soon.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Surely Burgess will be going to Adelaide at the end of the year though right?

I can’t help but feel this game is going to be a scrap.

The fact that it is played at the SCG won’t help this.

Every game at the SCG is a scrap. Was hoping the game would be at Giants Stadium.

Actually I'd rather the game be at the G but we're desperate for cash.

Love Mitch Brown

Always does his job unspectacularly

Agree with that, albeit has only played 6 games for us.

If you had to choose out of Weid or Mitch Brown at selection night to provide a meaningful impact, you'd be choosing Brown.

TMac is a great example for Weiderman to follow. It is possible to turn your career around very quickly.

BBB had a shocking 2020, injuries and no real match fitness so to be fair he’s coming off a very low base. I look at how much better the Cats are with the class of Cameron in their ranks and I hope long term BBB can be that for the Dees.

I and I’m sure all demonlanders feel much better about Monday knowing that Langdon is back in the squad ?.

My thoughts exactly. Last year, everyone was potting Tomlinson, he was out of form and struggling to get a consistent game. At the start of the year, everyone was talking about how important he was to our defence.

methinks BBB will be back in a big way next year.

How about we hold off on the "flop" comments for now hey?

Ample of time to make huge contribution still.  Reckon we'll see him in the 2nd half of the year back to some good form.

You're 100% right, but regrettably it's not exactly how Demonland works though, is it.

May was a disaster of a trade decision about two weeks into the 2019 season. At that time Lever was worse.

Agree. People have short memories.

I'm loving this so called 6 week pre season if that's the case. All Burgo is doing is getting up to the speed and fitness of his program.

As I said, Brown could become a huge fact around September if all goes to plan.

HAHAHAHAHA! ?

How times have changed!

I can't imagine Ron Barassi when he was coach back in the early 1980s doing this with any Demons players.

Does anyone know when the actual team for this match will be announced (i.e. only 4 named on the bench)?

Tomorrow afternoon

I just had a lengthy chat to one of our assistant coaches this morning. I asked him about the rumours of a few players being sore and potentially missing on Monday. But Jake Lever (He acknowledged Jake's ankle was sore) and Christian Salem (groin) both trained strongly and should play.

The boys fly up tomorrow, have a Captain’s Run on the SCG and come home Tuesday. They then have 4 days off before the Bye.

We spoke about the small forwards as this bloke looks after them. He’s really excited about Kade Chandler who kicked 5 goals in a little scratch match last week with players from Carlton, Essendon and Collingwood.

We also spoke about the new training facility. One thing he told me that I didn’t know was that the oval at Gosch’s Paddock is being expanded to MCG size. That was definitely going ahead shortly. He was also fairly confident that the new facility would be built in the current AAMI car park.

For me Chandle needs to be given a run of games ahead of Melksham. We keep hearing coaches rate him highly, but giving him 1 game then omitting him the next week isn't really giving him the consistency he needs.

Ps great Intel thanks TK.

Almost completely agree Tom, I just think it will be later this year. We have had a great luxury so far this season of getting him cherry ripe and not rush him in as a saviour. I'll go on record and say I think he will blow a final apart in a second half. Happy to be held to account if wrong,  but would rather be right.

On Tomlinson,  I don't recall seeing it mentioned so much when he got injured, but the utter disappointment and despair on his face was more than a standard "journeman", reeked of real buy in and sense of belonging to me.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
