I think about the only player they are missing is Cam Guthrie who is closing on 29 and probably replaces 22yo Brad Close so they can go older still ...

Fair enough, best to wait then. Not too long though - tick tock and all that...

Just listened to an interview with Jeff Kennett. Was asked about Alistair Clarkson and, as always, made it all about Jeff. I’ve seen this skill within the workplace but he’s a master. It was apparent that he wanted to lessen Clarkson’s achievements and talk up his own (overstated) efforts.

Let’s hope he stays in control of the Hawthorn FC.
Apologies for slightly left field comment

Can't stand that object.

He is apparently on Channel 7's payroll. He gets asked to comment on various issues, and is often on that station's news. If ever I am watching Channel 7's news (which I rarely do) and his ugly head appears, I have to switch off or chance the channel.

In no way am I having a go at you personally dees189227, but I am getting sick of the clarko is a genius stuff.

He is a great coach and has clearly done well with all the flags, but I love how they beat the swans and he is a genius (you said it, but also all the papers and radio have run with it today).

Just wondering how much of a genius he has been for the remainder of the games they have played this year?

Just a little gripe of mine.

Well said. It's bloody cringe.

This post also reminds me of the Tom Browne tweet from Friday night..

The Thilthorpe free was there. Poorly explained but there was an arm over the shoulder and a hold.

The umpires explanation “you prevented  him from marking?

Selective quoting? If you watch the footage, the umpire also stated that he was holding the player… and indeed he was.

Is this a covid reduced crowd at Blundstone or has Tasmania just officially given up on North ?

To be fair, would you get out of bed to watch this enthralling duel?

I can’t even be bothered finding the tv remote to turn on Kayo for this game.

Let's put it this way.

If you were given a free ticket would you go.

I wonder where GWS goes from here? North are past tense.

If that was indeed holding there would be a free kick given for every second forward 50 entry.

True. There's more life in the average graveyard than Hobart on a Sunday. I can guarantee the crowd will be bigger at the New Sydney Hotel on Bathurst St when it opens at 4pm.

Maybe the final straw was losing their home town full forward to our reserves team.

Bit like GWS but at least he didn't go to the reserves.

Technicality it did look like a weak arm chop in slow motion but I don’t recall ever seeing a free  paid for an arm chop applied after a player misses the first bite of the ball. Usually only paid when the arm chop spoils the first bite. In the circumstances it was a very contentious decision.

I'm comparing the treatment Thilthorpe got with what Toby Greene gets every time the ball goes in to the Giants 50. If last night's decision was any kind of benchmark, GWS would be 15 goals in front.

If only there was a way for North to play at Blundstone Arena more often

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
