Weed needs to impose himself this week.Ā

He just has to.Ā

Ā

Only if he has a continuing role at MFC or indeed with anyone else in the AFLĀ

Ā

too good for the VFL but the seniorsĀ

not good enjoy to impose yourself or show promise only every now and thenĀ

not when there are othersĀ

There are a lot of what if's in the draft (as always)

But Pick #9 we selected Weed

Pick #10 Carlton selected McKay

If people are looking at Melksham's stats last week they are looking in the wrong place.Ā  10 d, 9 k and 4 m doesn't look great until they realise he played only 54% game time:Ā  barely played 2 quarters.Ā  I think he is carrying a foot injury perhaps connected to he one which kept him out for a while several years ago.

Last week he enabled two goals in the first quarter with pin point passes, to keep us close to Adelaide.Ā  He barely played after the 1st quarter. Ā  He was far from our worst vs the crows - not even in the bottom 6 given his low game time.

I'm not a Melksham but I can see that he plays a valuable role most weeks.Ā

He doesn't tackle Melk maybe he's been saving tackles for a big game like tommorow night.

He did haveĀ 5 score involvements against the crows in 54% gametime which is decent.

Can deliver a sumptuous ball on the chest.

Amazing how some just get a free run at it each week.....

Truly bizarre.Ā

Big week for Weid or else he is out for Goodys Dog.Ā

Who or what is Goody’s Dog?

I heard this afternoon that it was going to be open.

If it rains and they have to keep it open, will the quick sand favor our game style over the Dogs?

Which is Why we will struggle vs Dishlickers tommorrow night!! ASSUMING we will play!

Would have preferred Mitch Brown to Weid frankly

He’s very crafty MitchĀ

Weid’s Last Stand, starring Charlie Sheen as Weid

Good selections, prove that last week was an off game.Ā  Deliver the ball properly to Weidemen and well Milkshakes is probably lucky

Roof open or closed? Anyone in the know?

It'll be open and it's absolutely rubbish. Window dressing of the highest order! It's seen to be doing something. If there's covid in the stadium it's going to be there roof open or not. Hopefully it doesn't rain and ruin what is to be a good match.Ā

There is consistency in our selections or non selections this year. Very hard for others to get a look in. I guess a 1 point loss is close to a win, though, our system needs to be looked at, given we were nearly 3 goals up with 7 mins to go. No heads to roll!

I thought Melky did alright in the first half. If he can keep that form for 4 then he will keep his place. Must be on thin ice though.

No mention about Jetts injury. Was it a leg or ankle thing?Ā Anyway, out and the quarter back is up.Ā

Hunt (who was off last week) and especially Salem are so important for our backline structure and their presence when getting repeat 50 entries and closing down corridors, as are our wings.

The pressure is on Weids. I believe he will rise for the big game.

ANB is also under the pump, but,Ā givenĀ we need to stop some of their players,Ā he should thrive with hard run with's and lockdowns.

Petty will have sorted a few things out by now and could be the big improver.

Fritta won't have two bad games.

Bowey the med sub. Get him used to the regime asĀ Sparrow and Chandler need game time. Can't see us going with BBB.

Addit: no Casey game, so Sparrow to be the med sub

Lots of great match ups, of course the one they all talk about is Trac v Bont, but the match up I'm most looking forward to is Spargo v Daniels.

i wonder whether anb might take him as our fittest player - caleb daniel just runs and runs and runs

i'm also wondering whether harmes goes to liberatore and tries to stop him being so impactful winning contestedĀ ball

there's so many interesting clashes around the ground between types of players

i'm pretty excited to see how we go; it's a massive challenge for both clubs given that the are both in terrific form and playing really well, plus both have had covid distractionsĀ

gotta curtail their fast ball movement and force them wide and long to contests

Ā

Surely Sparrow gets the sub. With no Casey game this week he is the most in form and could have the greatest impact if needed.

Would have loved to see Melk as sub instead urgh.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fieryĀ interaction between Max Gawn and Steven MayĀ at the end of the gameĀ was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
