Clearly ‘be prepared’ means go out right now and clear every single shelf of every single supermarket of toilet paper. Not a single ply is to remain!

Coz, embarrassingly, that’s what is already happening.

Haha not kidding, I did the grocery shopping last night and toilet paper was on the list. I felt like I had to explain to people it was just a normal purchase, don't give me greasies...

I understand OD, but your dig at your 70yo mate as if he puts others at risk I think is misplaced. One of the problems with AZ is the overall efficacy rate against all strains of Covid. If as been quoted it is about 65% effective you need close to 100% take up to achieve herd immunity. The mRna jabs over 88% effective meaning approx 70% take up achieves herd immunity. My feeling is that eventually we will all be offered an mRna vaccine even those that have had the AZ Rna jabs. Any way stay safe my friend.

ManDee, you (and frankly most of the world) are misunderstanding what efficacy percentage means. Here’s a link to explain it - https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(21)00075-X/fulltext. It’s a decent read, but worth it for clarity. Simply put, the efficacy of all the vaccines available to us (AZ no less) in preventing hospitalisation and death even if one contracts the virus is complete. There is no difference between them for what they are designed to do.
Edit : Here’s another to explain the diff between efficacy and effectiveness. Thus far, all vaccines have had basically the same ‘effectiveness’. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/what-is-vaccine-efficacy

Would be easier to move this Round to next week, the finals bye Round or shorten this season by one week ; depending on what happens tomorrow.

Where did you see that? I can't find anything about a 2nd MCG case.

There's 1 from Coll vs Port & 1 from Ess vs Nth.

I had the first AZ vaccination last Sunday. Just a very mild headache for a day afterwards. The clotting risk is lower as you get older, for 70-year-olds it's about 2 per million. Less than the chance of a car accident on the way to the clinic.

Sometime, events will be limited to fully vaccinated people. That's an incentive to get it.

Thanks for that Mauriesy, there goes my book

Not all vaccines are equal against all strains. mRNA's appear to be more effective against more strains. It seems that all the vaccines have similar efficacy when they work. The blood clot issue is minor unless you are the unlucky one.

The roll-out is very poor, but if we all sit around and wait until October or beyond for non-AZ, we'll get more cases, maybe a severe third wave, go continually in and out of lockdown (and we'll never get unhindered football!).

You've only got to look at the case rates in the UK, Europe and the USA now to see how dramatic the reduction is following high vaccination rates. They're 5-10% of what they were (with the UK using mostly AZ).

Or look at poorly vaccinated India.

That'll do it. They can deep clean the G while they're at it. Even after COVID there was still the baked on bird poo on my seat that has been there for nearly a decade. #firstworldproblem

If they were black birds baked in a pie we could blame the filth ... ?

“My high level gov contacts”….

Hes just said his “high leave AFL contacts” re head high contact.

Stop speaking to him people, he’s done, a man who presided over a totally lack of accountability in his club, let him float away.

Understand public finances. It cost taxpayers zero dollars. As powerful as it sounds (hence the deliberate weaponisation of language and framing), if you understood how the official public accounts work, you'd know it's impossible for taxes to fund federal expenditure. Taxation is the deletion point of currency and spending/marking up accounts is the creation point.

Was it misspent public money? Sure. But you or I had no hand in funding it. The sole issuer of the AUD doesn't need its own liabilities back to fund anything, that's nonsensical, but without taxation we'd have inflation. In order to spend, Federal Treasury simply instructs its central bank to mark up accounts. ?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
