Reality is hard to maintain wining for 10 weeks  and though 16 points up how did they let it slip??? Hope this isn’t a start of a losing streak 

If the Dees treated the Crows with a bit of respect and not half arsed it for most of the night then the last couple of decisions wouldn’t have mattered.

When we were 16 points up I couldn’t understand why we didn’t maintain possession more just slow the game down and control the ball because at that stage of the game they had the run of the ball, Salem would have provided that control and coolness that we lacked tonight. Nev wasn’t the answer as it altered and slowed down our backline structure to much. Hell to go down like that by one point was just so disappointing.

The Crows deserved the win as they went in harder for longer. Having gotten over the anger of the last minute non deliberate I’m feeling ok now. 

Unlike a lot of posters on here we need to take this loss and relax. Review it, get better. Realise we are 9-1. A few players have to take a look at how they handled the pressure.

I agree and it's coincided with us bringing an additional tall into the side (first Brown then Weid). Correlation isn't always causation but it makes you wonder.

A bottle of wine later and this was no doubt a disappointing loss. To be honest I never trusted my comfortable ease leading into this match. Should have known better ?

We were getting a bit too comfortable. Teams were getting a jump on us and we cruised to a win. This was never going to be sustainable and sometimes a loss like this can really spark another level. 
We need to make some adjustments and I doubt our backline will ever play a worse game.

We now know that we are better with Brown and Jetta is not a Salem replacement. 
 

If you told me we would go 9 rounds without a loss I would tell you “where do I sign?”  
I would rather lose to a non entity in Adelaide than our competition in Bulldogs or Brisbane.

Yep. Goodwin alluded to this in the press conference. They've practiced this scenario and didn't execute when it mattered.

I sort of agree. Harmes, melksham and langdon all come to mind trying stuff that was to smart by half

 

A bit in shock.

A sign of a good team to get to nearly a 3 goal lead going into the last part of the game when they had been so close all day. A sign of a bad team that switched off, to lose from that position (mental weakness), the bathwater, lack of desire to win and to be ruthless, happy to coast to the 4 points and leave it up to a few.

We missed Salem, our delivery from the backs was terrible all day, bombs and straight lines (looking at Lever), no creative or overlap plays.

A question of whether we played unselfish footy and did we do enough 1 percenters. Shepard's, talk and making decoy leads included. 

Hunty got caught early in the game and gave up.

Too many fell away when it was their moment.

So, old bad habits came back. Handballs to players under pressure was a big one and missing the simple hit up kicks. The inability to deliver when under pressure and our lack of outside run. Dropping the simplest of marks and lacking cohesion between players. They scored very easily once inside their 50, and we couldn't convert and gave them some easy outs. Going to ground regularly. 

Melky got lost after half-time.

ANB needs to be able to break tackles or at least release the ball to our advantage. Was playing like a back when on the wing.

Sam can't jump at the ball, plays with his feet firmly on the ground, it is why he can be good at ground level and allows his opponents to get a look at the spoil. No separation or angles on his leads.

Our forward line needs work, as does our delivery into the 50.

Oliver grew after Tex slammed him. Perhaps Williams could slap him round pregame, every week. Just kidding, he has been very consistent this year.

Jordon's field kicking was bad at important times, his effort was good.

Brayshaws game was defensively good.

Langdon played well for 3 quarters.

Jackson had a good return to the team.

Spargo and Kossie nearly there when it was on the line in the last.

Maxy, nearly, but!

Goals from our mids.

Lever and Petty did well, to hold their backs.

The clearances started to work for us.

Are we back to learnings? Good teams shouldn't drop that one. Hoping it is not a blueprint for the Dogs and Lions to work us out (uncontested, then hit the central corridor, bring the pressure). Those games are now important to finishing top 4. Wanted ruthless and angry, got entitlement, bathwater and letting someone else do the work. Four steps forward, two back. Home truths in the backroom and hard work on the track.

Expecting a bounce back this week under the roof. Watch out Doggies, we could be angry.

We have a bit of a read on them from the belting they gave us in the preseason. Hope we have a plan!

We just didn’t control the ball all night. Had very few chains of possession. It was hard to watch.

Does anyone think Gawn is trying to do too much and then stuffing up? 

I actually really enjoyed the game. Yes we did not play that well, but I loved Clarry trying to will us over the line. 16pts up with 5 mins to go we shouldn't be losing from there despite 2 putrid umpire calls.

Its all well and good saying "we shouldnt lose to a bottom 4 side", but they played very well, pressure rating >200. If they played like that every week they wouldn't be a bottom 4 side. They lifted and had a red hot crack. Credit to Adelaide.

Salem was a massive out

The biggest issue for me was our forward pressure. Kozzie, ANB, and Spargo have been asked to do A LOT of work this year - i'm amazed they havent been rotated at some point - their work rate sets up out whole game plan, and part of the reason our defence looked off IMO.

We slipped and fumbled all night.

Fristch burning trac and then scuffing the snap was criminal. Every moment matters. We win the game if he gives the handball.

Back to work and onto two tough games.

We played like crap the last 10 minutes. Goodwin knows it and we know it. It’s a good thing to learn. We weren’t ever threatened in last quarters until today and we did not hold up. We learn. We move on. We get on with it.

And I'm guessing this would have hurt more than if we had won and lost the same way next week. 

Beat last years Premiers lost to last years Wooden Spooners it's a crazy game.

I think a lot of players tonight tried to do too much, instead of making smarter, more basic decisions.

Reality is we've been ordinary for the last month. Has been an amazing result to come out 3 and 1 over the last 4.

Skills have dropped off in direct correlation with the drop off in defensive intensity especially in the forward half.

Looked like 2 evenly matched teams today which is concerning. Don't believe we are contenders but if we make strides towards showing intensity for larger periods of games this season (which overall we have so far) it will have been a good season and a big step forward.

We had limited intensity for large periods of the game, it looked like our eyes were on marvel for Friday against the Dogs.

In the grand scheme of things not the worst outcome in the world.

Intensity will be through the roof next week.

This is what i thought too. Greedy by Fritsch who looked desperate to get involved in the game. Cost us badly.

As easy as it is to blame the umpires, this moment was a big failure and had a massive impact on the result
