Ben Brown is pretty stiff i reckon. considering the two rounds before last round he was averaging 2.5 goals a game which is consistent with the elite forwards of the comp, and was really just building back into it.

not sure Weid did enough to dislodge him in my opinion.

and Chandler is stiff to not get another week, but it's difficult to assess the impact Melksham has in a leadership capacity out there, because if it's not something like that, i genuinely doesn't make sense

How the fuurg does Melksham get a game??? Brown has been a Matchwinner in the past. Melksham in is absolute Garbage player management!!

Sorry coach but that is the way it goes.

Like it. Weid needs a solid run, and at his age and with his potential, he is the future KPF we need.

What a back up in BBB if he doesn’t perform

Argh..

How the [censored] does Melksham get in based on being a medical [censored] sub.

Still had more positive impact than Chandler.

I was going to suggest bringing Melksham for Chandler in but was legit afraid of the Demonland lynch mob. There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind Melksham would have offered a lot more than Chandler on the weekend.

Didn’t see the Brown change coming though, but I’m pleasantly surprised. Thought they’d prefer him over Weideman, but I’m stoked to see the young bloke get another look at it. Can’t wait for this game now. Both changes make the side stronger.

Who would have thought that at the end of the trade period last year when we just picked up BBB that we would be 9-0 and he would not be in the side... not due to injury but due to the form of TMac!  Wow!

Feel a bit sorry for Chandler - reckon he's a player and will offer more than Melkshem.. but clearly the coaches are hoping Melkshem can find his 2018 form.  Who knows, maybe realising his spot is not safe anymore might be enough to kick him into action!

Garbage! Melksham is the Epitome of a downhill skier Period!

Probably on the basis that he offers more than Chandler at the moment, but he obviously knows that he's on notice.

Sure.

But lets say he plays well against an inexperienced, young backline? What does that prove in terms of his ability to play say the dogs the following week.

He better lay some inside 50 tackles and apply elite pressure. If he doesn't and he stays in I'm just not sure what message that sends to the rest of the squad.

Dropping Brown and bringing in Jckson is a good move but Melksham getting another game is shizenhausen. Should have kept chandler in at least for 1 more week.

hope they give weid a few games including the doggies . let’s have a good look at weid 2021 style! hope he gives the selectors plenty of headaches in the future.

BBB is a proven forward and way ahead of Weed right now. Melksham should never have been dropped, Chandler is nowhere near ready for this level and Melks ball use is superb yet we carry others like Brayshaw. We are a chance this year but the club needs to get serious.

Disappointed for Chandler as he was on a hiding to nothing playing seniors last week. He'd had very little match time at any level in the month preceding. I'd have like to see Melksham actually play at Casey. IIRC last time he played in the twos he came back with a vengeance. He might need another shake-up. A fit, firing & committed Melksham is an asset forward of centre.

I believe Chandler developed lactose intolerance after the song.

Very happy to see they had the courage to drop Brown for Jackson and allow Weid to have a decent run at it, I didn't think they would.

Melksham's snuck in without being an 'in' the cheeky bugger.

There’s no doubt Melksham brings more than Chandler did last week. But we can’t talk about selection pressure and players putting in at Casey and then bringing in Melksham when you’ve got multiple players in the VFL working their backside off for a chance to play.
What’s the motivation for Bedford for example to keep going when Melksham gets a week warming the bench and is then straight back into the side? What has he worked on while being a sub? Because he was obviously dropped for a reason.

Beware Melksham in on no form sets a very dangerous precedent!

Big Ben dropped never thought I'd see that from the boom recruit. Good luck to Weid he'll have to play a blinder to keep in the team. Melksham was obvious forward replacing a forward. He's just warming the seat for Viney when he comes back.

Maybe the FD are using this trip to Adelaide and what is a 5.5 to 6 day break both to give Weid a go at it with Tmac & Jackson, but also to rest Ben Brown with his knee recovery, which might still be an ongoing load management issue over the full season.

What a load of rubbish.

I didn’t see you kick up a stink when Chandler played after being the sub the week before.

We did it to Tomlinson. Maybe BBB will come back a full back

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
