Opposition fans always say we are due for a loss.

I'm not saying that: It's to do with them beating Geelong and their recent improved form.  We're not 'due' for anything...

I thought we'd drop one of Sydney or Carlton, but am not worried about this week. If we keep doing what we've been doing, I think we'll win and win well.

Adelaide will be a difficult beast to tame. Home ground, a new-found modus operandi. They went West last week and didn't lose by much. The lads need to be on top of their game for this.

Yep its always hard work playing over there despite respective form.

The supporters are absolutely full on and umpires are often swayed.

It will be a tough game, no doubt about it but we are up to it and will get the job done. I hope Jack is back in.

They pumped Cats R1

That's true, but it was 8 weeks ago and if you watch it again you'll see that Geelong really didn't turn up.

Since then their only two wins have been vs Gold Coast and North Melbourne, and they took until the fourth quarter to shake both.

They also lost to Hawthorn, and wouldn't have been in that contest after quarter time if it wasn't for their ridiculously accurate goal kicking.

Every game is a danger game - we either play a good team, and they're a genuinely good chance to beat us, or we play a weak team, and we all freak out because of our latent MFCSS.

Let’s enjoy the wins and not panic about the next dog t*rd on the footpath we have to avoid.  We’re better than that Demonland (I think).

This is my philosophy in a nutshell. I'd go further though.

As supporters, we should be taking the lid off at every opportunity.

We support a team that hasn't looked like winning a premiership for 50-odd years. Who wants to spend an entire lifetime without once believing/acting as though your team is the best in the land?

We should all believe that we are currently unbeatable because it might end at some stage and that means your whole footy supporting life will include (a) worrying about losing and (b) losing.

Go Dees!

We should win but Adelaide at home is always a bit feral.

We'd be 50/50 against the Doggies, so potentially we could drop the next two if we don't keep the foot down. We don't need a tough match before the dogs either.

So yes it's a danger game. Would be good to jump out of the gates and hit the Chris Sullivan line by half time.

I like getting off the edge of the couch, sitting back, putting my feet up and laughing at crappy umpiring.

VKCrow isn't wrong. They don't seem to be "playing for draft picks", they are punching a bit above their weight already the Crows, and like Carlton, Gold Coast, Freo, they'll claim a few scalps this year as has already occured, albeit earlier in the year. They lack experience and polish around the ground but if they can straighten up and play direct they are dangerous. Fast and hard into Tex and even May can't stop him. He's a big boy. Make no mistake this will be won based on defensive accountability across the middle, which we've been superb at doing all year. But if the likes of Oliver, Trac, Brayshaw and Gawn drop off a bit in defensive accountability the Crows can still score quickly. Not a massive scoring team but if Tex kicks 4+ then it could be in danger of being our first loss.

The Dogs have silky class across the ground, and a lot of pace. At Marvel it's going to be our toughest assignment by a far margin. We can't go into the game with both Brown and Weed playing.

Yeah @praha, our forward line was interesting last weekend for sure. Pretty clunky.

Another reason to dominate against the Crows to see if those three can click into place or not.

I thought we got pretty lazy at times with our forward entries. A fair bit of the old "bomb it long" crept in again.

Yes, we have three tall forwards to mark it but that should mean we have to take extra care and lower our eyes.

I'm still on the fence and hope we get a bit more clarity this weekend.

It's going to be important for Chandler to find his feet quickly too.

Key to this game is closing it off early and destroying any confidence they have in terms of ball movement from their backline with our forward half pressure.

Taking a healthy lead into half time will elevate the need in exhausting too much energy in catching up.

Expecting a Carlton like performance on Sunday composed, efficient and professional.

I would like to see us come out switched on and hard and get ahead early. AFAICR we haven't done it yet, with ruthlessness.

We don't lose often in Adelaide, even in 2017 we beat the crowds by 42 points, our record there since 2016 is more wins then loses

I think the opposite, stretch their defence, dry track just kick it long, people said brown is not good overhead, most of his marks against Sydney were over head marks.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
