You do not rest players for sake of resting. If badly sore/half injured yes but we play our best side each week and remember in a few weeks they all can have a rest at the bye. Never, NEVER put players out for a rest only. Keep the system going as it seems to be OK to me.

No change.

If Viney is fit, he can replace Chandler.

If Jackson is fit, it’s a hard choice for his replacement. Weid is the most similar in terms of role, but Brown was the worst performing tall today.

Otherwise no change needed unless someone is sore.

Surely you’re not serious

Would like to get Sparrow in somehow. Kid has been far and away our best player at Casey this year. Chandler the obvious candidate but would be unlucky to be dropped after his first game at the level.

It’s a small sample size but I don’t like Weid, BB and Tmac in the same side. However we owe it to ourselves to stick to it for at least another week and give it a crack. Because Jesus if we can make that work, and get Jackson in and Viney and win some clearances... boy oh boy.

However Weid and BB are both looking decidedly average on the lead and in the air. This concerns me greatly as they are defensive liabilities when ball hits deck. Something Jackson and Tmac are not (yes Tmac is athletic now, who saw that coming?!). I’ll cut them some slack as the weather was not ideal today and our inside 50 entries were 58% trash and the other 28% came from Brayshaw and went out the full.
Another week to see if we can make it work, and if not, one of BB or Weid make way for Jackson. Because that’s right folks, we are in a position to drop one of these guys for a 19 year old. Life is whack.

IMVHO Weed offered a lot more than BBB today - neither scored a goal but BBB looked fumble and was easily brushed aside, whereas Weed did some ruck work and provided contests around the ground.

Problem is if Jackson comes back in then Weids ruck work is moot, and so your choice needs to be predominately judged based on there fwd output, neither showed much today but brown has 2 prior weeks on the board, either way at least one will need to go and so far Brown maybe just by virtue of been first in has the edge. It’s also possible both go out I certainly haven’t liked our fwd pressure the last 2 weeks, it’s coming out way to easily.

Who comes in and who goes out?

I'd drop T-Mac, he is playing too well, we need to make sure he doesn't get ahead of himself, and it sends a message for he rest of the list that no-one is safe, not even one of the best key forwards in the competition.

Smart. I like it.
Oliver May and Lever need to go too. This level of excellent is disorienting and may cause you to not get any better. Off to Casey.

This exactly !! You've nailed it Jaded.

Plus, just for good measure,  SACK Goodwin !!!

( well someone has to say it )

I’d be resting that troublesome foot of Viney’s one more week, and giving Chandler another run. His mistakes were symptomatic of somebody getting used to the big arena, and he needs a chance to adjust.

But if his inclusion is a no-go, then it’s Sparrow for my money.

No other changes.

I reckon we need to give Chandler a run. Loved his over the head handball to Spargo for a goal. Dropping him after a week won’t be great for his long term confidence.

Agree was a nearly in some moves etc. Needs to be given another game vs Crows. Slick handball to Spargy was Oliver/Pickett style.

On the Spargy front reckon it was his best  game even though he kicked only one goal.

Loves his work on the half back flank!

Agree how wise.

Mitch Brown is better than Daw for just a forward.

I'd be tempted to move Tom McDonald up to the wing, get Brayshaw into the middle to help with Clearances and keep Weideman, Jackson and Brown all forward when Jackson is back

How in the world can you move TMAC form the CHF?  You are only moving deck chairs for the sake of fitting players in positions that they are not succeeding in.  Both Tommy (not to a wing but in defence) and Angus can be moved during a game if necessary.

Chandler was horrendous. Poor kid tried so hard but simply got under everyones feet. Easy out for Viney when he is ready.

Weid did not impress at all. For a bloke coming off much touted form at VFL level he was just average. And STILL 2 grabs almost every mark. Not good enough for a key forward. TMac has him well and truly covered.

Am I the only one who thinks we look heaps better with Harmes in the middle? I've been impressed with how much more dangerous he makes us look. With Viney and Oliver (and Jordon) beside him, we have the capacity for Trac to spend a bit more time across half forward. It's a nice mix.

I thought Max was looking tired v Sydney but he looked fine yesterday. There is no one that I can see who obviously needs a rest so I would hold off until the 3 week stretch either side of and including the bye to freshen things. From rd16 onwards have the best 22 playing every week leading into finals.

Jesus a deck chairs reference when we’re 9-0…. “Shudders”. Those 2 words are not for this season 58, leave them to most of the last 15yrs thanks!

Others have mentioned resting players, we have a bye coming up in a couple of weeks, have a rest then? The team still needs to click fwd of the ball so no rest for you.

Very happy to see no one potting Chandler or Weid after a 1 game showing, kudos people!

If viney is right I reckon they'll play him, perhaps on reduced minutes, as it might be harder to come back against the dogs without a week getting some touch. Though I guess he hasn't been out long.

Id take the opportunity to give Jackson another week's rest, even if ready. Qith his injury he would have no issue continuing to run etc so fitness won't drop old at all. And two games off would perhaps mean not having to rest him at a later point.

Another wet, greasy day yesterday. So not great conditions for sam and bb (though didnt stop their aa buddy).

This week in Adelaide the forecast is sunny, 21 degrees and light wind. Spring time conditions, just like finals.

Those boys will be licking their lips and we will get a much better sense of how they might go all together

I agree. Its a completely different pace to VFL. Give him one more if he stinks drop him.

Chandler needs another game. Petty played well today, shows what good a couple games does. Frustrating how easily Weids gets pushed under the ball or out of the contest. Surely he is stronger than he let's on.

No changes for me.

Yep, so many called  for Pettys head after one game.

I think Petty was very good so lets give Chandler a chance as well.

No change unless LJ is cherry ripe. Unleash Viney against the Dogs as he has a habit of having a ripping game first up from injury. If LJ then it needs to be Weid out as a like for like role. Weid was only ok but better than Brown yesterday but for forward dynamic Brown offers something different with his height and tentacles under the high ball and on the lead.

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
