Would like to see TMac share the rucking duties, leaving Weid and brown forward.  TMac has the ability to go forward and back with the play, and be a link man through the middle.

Carlton fans are a despicable bunch.  I would welcome the chance to dack this bunch of pretenders.  Good pressure all day and they bust open early.  Will make the excessively priced beer taste a bit better.

I can't make it today and missing my 1st game. So everyone going barrack loudly and get our boys home.

Looking forward to what Weid will do today. I hope Brown continues on and kicks a bag of goals and Maxy dominate the ruck.

We want our top spot back and go 3 games clear of port and geelong.

Bring it home boys.

Late change for us today? Slight murmur about it apparently. I don’t know more than that.

Was just watching the 2018 replay when we crushed em by 109 points.
I noticed how much our list has improved since then and noted the changes from the 22

Melbourne
IN: May, Petty, Rivers, Langdon, Jordon, Ben Brown, Pickett, Weideman, Hunt and Chandler

Out of the side: Jetta, Jones, Melksham, Viney
Out of the club: Hogan, OMac, Hannan, Lewis, Tim Smith, Vince

Carlton:
Only have Harry McKay, Patrick Cripps, Liam Jones, Lachie Plowman and Marc Murphy playing from that game in 2018

They have improved some positions by adding Walsh, Stocker, Weitering, Saad, Williams and Betts to the team

The rest, meh

Tipping Weed to have a monster game. They have to put all their energy into stopping brown and tmac and koz.

this will leave weed almost free. A very different prospect to being the only guy in the fwd line and being triple teamed

Would be Petracca out I'm assuming if any late change. Sparrow to come in?

Yep, I'm nervous!

Would love to see Max, Kozzie, Fritta and Trac back to their best today.

Love Clarry to show the Blues what they're missing out on.

Salem and Lever to continue their AA form.

BBB to kick six.

Chandler to show signs.

Angus to play a blinder!

Surely not.  Trac would be 'fine to play next week' according to Goody!

Feeling a very solid win coming on   FWIW, the club have generally been very cautious with injuries and if there were any doubts on Petracca i think we would have rested him given we're 8-0. i'm very confident he'll play

In the supermarket and a halfwit in a Carlton beanie says to me, “youse are gonna lose today and you know why? Coz youse never play good against Colt’n.”

I didn’t reply. I just wondered, “who ties your shoelaces for you?” ?

Hey, can you hear that? It’s the sound of Darwin rolling in his grave. ?

Amazing how we never play well against them yet have won the last 5 games with them.

Carlton are overrated. Predicting a fairly clinical win today.

I was thinking the same way Re a Port win, but as it's panned out, I think it was better them loosing as it could put us 3 games clear inside the top 2, which is really more important.  No real difference between finishing 1 or 2 come finals time, but 2 or 3 could mean a home Vs away final.

The closeness of the end result last night has also helped bring the dogs % back down to earth a little.

This!

Beware the three-headed monster, a la Dillon, Parke, Collcott. Apologies in advance for historically inaccurate allusion. Allusion 2.0: Lyon, Bennett, Jakovich.

I’d say Melbourne by three points as I’m not sure any team can remain ‘up’ for this long.

I'm expecting a comfortable win today - but historical trauma means I would not be surprised if we lost.

Just on your quote above @Colin B. Flaubert - I would argue that even if you win matches - it doesn't mean you're 'up' all the time. Be that the team as a whole, or individuals.

I feel we've had 3 out of 8 wins thus far where we have been far from our best, thus not being consistently 'up' but still getting the points (it's what all very good teams do).

An 'up' win would be capitalising and kicking 70%+ of our scoring opportunities, and demolishing a team.

We haven't done that yet in 2021

Let's hope that begins today.

Go Dees!

Melbourne by 42.

Kozzie to kick 5.

Max Gawn to return to his best form and give Carlton a beard bath.

arm wrestle in the first half, then Dees run away with it.

Zac Williams to earn his money and get 10 touches today.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
