So, you take the name of one of our all-time greats then come on here and call a player a "spud"; classy act you've got going there in your marathon contribution of 143 posts!

Oh I’m so sorry

And Viney was named in the team. Doesn’t mean either were fit.

I saw Chandler as the travelling emergency, likely to be the sub if needed. I didn’t see anyone else in the rooms post game.

Petty was out on the ground with a trainer and later Burgo after the game doing his kms for not playing, so he was a travelling emergency.  Looked to be moving absolutely fine.

I know this because after the game they blew the siren a second time which meant you cold go out onto the ground for a kick.  I'm not entirely sure that the club staff or ground security were fully aware of this because they had to hasten to stop people going inside the forward 50 arcs where Petty was up one end and the North sub was at the other.  I was in a foot race with a security guard because I wanted to hit Petty up on the lead a couple of times with my son's AusKick footy.  If I didn't have my backpack on I reckon I could have laced him out at least once but it slowed me down too much and the 50 was secured by the time I got there.

Petty and tommo both trained over preseason as the lockdown full back.

Both started the preseason in the frame for that role.

Tommo won the spot because of a super preseason. And I think petty also had a slight interruption.

Tmac was great down back yesterday. But he is not, and has never been a deep lock down defender.

Petty will now take the role.

Will take him several decades to invent time travel, fix his knee and learn how to chase and tackle.

He's in the same boat as Melksham - will our coach fall in love with his upside or be honest about his glaring weaknesses?

He's not in the same boat as Melksham. He actually did something on sunday!

Out- Tomlinson, Baker

In - Weid, Sparrow

TMac to defense

If Fritsch suspended, TMac stays forward and Petty in to defense

Harmes another option if we want him in the Viney role but I reckon Sparrow should be given first crack

must be like Jackson who i said is a good 0layer but simply not a natural forward. people were saying he is close to kicking a bag etc. surely people can see im right now?  most of his goals have been from ground balls so far.

Brown will not be getting dropped.

Couldn't agree more. We're not talking about an in-game reshuffle. We're talking about replacing a long-term injured player's role. Has to be Petty.

Despite putting forward changes to the contrary, I think this is what will happen and it makes sense.

Petty was scratchy in his one start this season but he's the right type. Hopefully, we can get him going.

I would like to see tmac stay back and weid come in but it will never happen. I just can't understand the calls for harmes to be brought back. Even though others thought he did well in the vfl I thought he looked very ordinary. Sparrow looked much better. Also didn't notice kozzi rotating through the midfield this week. Looked good there for small stints previously. Thoughts?

Petty for Tommo.  Isn’t it nice we have a swing man like Tom who can roll back and cover if needed?  Tom is better applying pressure and linking up for us a HFF.

Brown was ordinary.

I was surprised by how slow he was.

I accept that his first game back will be not necessarily his best.

Just by his size and contest he got us some crumbing goals I suppose but I also felt we reverted to a "kick it to the big fella" forward entry approach which hadnt been so evident.

Minimal changes. To the team and structure

Tmac stays back

harmes for Viney

Weid in for Tomlinson

I think Sparrow in Baker out.

Brayshaw back on his wing

Jones med sub again

thats assuming Frirz plays

the longer term lineup can be planned after seeing how Weid and BBB go together in the seniors

Go you good things.  Well played no 5.

Sparrow for Baker - Brayshaw back to the wing, he might not be as quick but his decision making into 50 is so much better than Bakers.

I'd actually run with TMac back this week against the Swans, I think long term Petty should come in, but we need to bring Weid in and this offers us the flexibility to do that. Melksham wasn't great, but I don't see him being dropped after that game, plus if Rampe is back he should be an option to disrupt him. If not I'd be happy to see Chandler get a run.

So in: Sparrow & Weid

Out: Baker & Tomo (with Jones back to med sub)

If Brown and T Mc was top heavy and didn't function why is anyone signing up for the idea of Brown and Weid together at AFL level? Even if Fritsch is out that's 2 big lumbering forwards which is at least 1, probably 2 too many.

Have you all been living under rocks for the last 4 years and missed Richmond winning flags based on pressure?

Haven't watched the full replay yet.

Looks like Tmac went back to cover Tomlinson and did ok, assuming he stays there.

  • Surely Weid comes in and plays fwd with Brown.
  • Harmes in for Baker.
  • Chandler has to come in for Melksham.

Our midfield depth is an issue for me.

Viney always has this foot problem.

When Oliver is held like he was for three qrts Trac has do do it all.

Jones is way past his midfield days.

Jordan is good but if Trac or Oliver are injured...we are cooked.

More games into Sparrow.

Who else is there?

We've got one of the best mid-fields in the AFL. Harmes is now back. Kozzie can play midfield. Sparrow, Jordon, Brayshaw could move there. I can't believe the negativity in these posts. We're 7 zip and we actually beat North Melbourne by 5 goals in Tassie despite playing fairly ordinarily for most of the game. North played by far their best game this year and in this comp if you're slightly off your game you're in trouble. Even the best sides have the odd bad game. For God's sake let's jump on rather than off. Go Dees!

I wouldn't call weideman a lumbering forward, after what I've seen at casey. Even his field kicking has gone up a notch!

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
