We will be 7-0 top of the ladder with the best % come Sunday afternoon.

I am already looking to next weeks game, Saturday night at the MCG vs the Swans who would love to burst our bubble.  They have been a bit wobbly the last two weeks but if they can beat Geelong tomorrow they will be up and about.

Geeeze this post could go south.

It would be the most "Melbourne" thing ever to drop this game.

Really hoping we have matured and have the game beyond doubt by half time.

You're thinking of the old Melbourne. We don't talk about that Melbourne anymore.

I really really hate these threads.
You are Melbourne supporters ffs. Haven’t you learnt by now that we can lose anything?!

We owe those f wits a touch up, put them right back in their place.

Roos are gonna get forkin' stomped now.
These boys will want Top spot more than we do.

It is the week after I am worried about.

Folks - I know we are all mentally scarred from the past decades of supporting this club but relax.

all I’ve heard the last 6 weeks is - ‘it would be the most Melbourne thing ever to lose this game’

well we didn’t lose. So maybe we are a good team now. We will lose a couple of games but believe we are a good team.

By rights we should win

Shouldn't we?

Yup.

We have beaten Sydney once since 2011 and twice since 2006.   The only team left that still owns our souls, and beat us yet again last season when we were in the finals hunt.

If we win against north & are clear top of the ladder...is that the first time in Nathan Jones career that Melbourne has been  on top of the ladder ?

Yes he has never played for us when we are top of the ladder.

Can’t bring myself to be happy about the Toiges winning.

I can because we might end up TOTL After Sunday

But as i have said lets not get ahead of ourselves

Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves, we have to win firstly. Out of interest what’s the odds for us going back to back?

Back to back? I want the 4peat Collingwood robbed us of in the 50s!

Here we go, here we go,  here we go...

Here we go, here we go,  here we go...

Go Demons..

???

surely 2019 and 2020 taught people some lessons about not getting ahead of themselves after a successful 2018. surely!

You lot need to chill.. North are close to being this years 2013 dees.

The biggest test will be the Sydney and Carlton clash the following two weeks.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
