I don’t want to hang on them too much as I’m all too familiar with that feeling of dread and hopelessness at the upcoming game, and their mood reflects that sentiment. But there is one lost Swans supporter on their BigFooty board foreseeing a boilover. Obviously hasn’t watched much footy this year; even the Norf fans are laughing at him.

They still refer to us as the Draft Cheaters.

I’m with you Nasher. I feel their pain. It won’t stop me enjoying a smashing win and laughing arrogantly at their ineptitude should that eventuate . But part of my heart knows far too well the territory they’re in.

“Why is our spiritual home now named after the NZ PM?” might be something they’d say.

They are in a tough spot (that we know only too well), but still plenty of contempt for the Dees in that thread. If we dish out a thrashing to them, I won’t mind.

That thread had a real 'us in 2013' feel about it. Going to the footy, knowing you are ridiculously undermanned and inexperienced, and hoping against hope for a miracle. It's not a nice place to be in.... ?

Lingering MFCSS says that this game will tell us just as much about where we are at as last night did, if not more.

It would be peak Melbourne to lose this game.

I hope we win this game easily, but if we do I'm not going to laugh at their fans or their club. We've been so bad for so long, it would be good to have a bit of humility and enjoy our own side being good rather than rubbing it in the faces of other supporters. And as the example of Collingwood, Adelaide, St Kilda, us in 2019 etc show it can all turn around in the blink of an eye so let's not set ourselves up for massive bad karma coming our way. Enjoy the ride folks!

We should bury them but they'll drag us down to their level. That's what lousy teams do, including us not so long ago. We'll overcome them in an arm wrestle and end up winning handily.

I remember my daughters 4th birthday party, at Booran Reserve- one of the dads turned up in a North jumper and said I’ll be back after we [censored] the Dees. It was our first win in however many years. That day I lost all care factor for their supporters then and there.. another arrogant mob who deserve the ground end of the ladder.

I cannot stand that club and their supporters are all [censored]. Never met a North supporter who I didn’t want to punch in the face. Hard.
I will never feel sorry for another club. We have been through more than anyone and nobody felt sorry for us.
I hope we smash them by 20 goals and BB comes in and kicks 12. But I suspect it’ll be a closer game and after coming down from a massive win this week, it might just be a boil over.

Anyone feeling sympathy for North Melbourne wouldn’t need to look far through the game archives... we’ve been on the end of some absolute pantsings by the Roos over the last 25 years.

Despite being 6-0 and 2nd on the ladder with a percentage of 150% and wins over three current top 8 sides, I still can't help but be concerned about this game.

I should have faith, but we've played so poorly against North for so long, we play Bellerive Oval poorly (assuming the game is there), and there are always games in every season where a good side loses to a bad one.

You mean like how many on here say Essendrug, Meth Coke and Carltank?

They probably will also complain about the fact we essentially traded Dom Tyson for Ben Brown.

Wrong - Tyson was traded for Brayden  Preuss. Brown was traded for a 2nd round pick.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
