As much as I’d like to agree with this, Maxy isn’t afraid of a chat with the umpires from time to time.

Loves a bit of banter.

Does it well too.

My friend was meeting me at the game Saturday night and whilst walking some Richmond guys asked who she goes for (doesn’t go for either team so wasn’t wearing a scarf) she said Melbourne they then changed their attitude and starting saying oh you’re a Melbourne scum then. They kept going and she felt unsafe. They have no right to diss any supporter base as my family and I have had many problems with Richmond people in the past.
makes beating them even better

I read that initially as you and your friends going all super here and beating the living suitcase out of those tiger flogs.

But I guess you mean the dees winning.....

“It’s ruck-craft, mate.”

Had a chat with an Uber driver who did crowd security at the MCG for over 20 years. Very illuminating. Worst fans were Richmond, followed by the Kangaroos. Richmond were so bad that extra security were hired for their bigger matches.

Very difficult thing for a club to directly address though. Can’t exactly say “Hey we’ve heard our supporters are total [censored]. Can we do something about this?”

You really should watch the replay in full bcause right now you look very silly.  Kozzy was trying to make a lead when the Richmond player round-housed him and hit kozzy in the head with his arm.  That was when kozzy retaliated.  Luckily the umpires saw the initial high contacted and awared the free kick.  During the wrestle, the tiger player was leaning on Kizzies face/head with his forearm which was got Jones wo riled up.

Kozzy isn't a sniper at all.  The tactics of the tiger overstepped the mark and he retaliated which is fair enough.

The issue Goodwin had with him was the pointing at the scoreboard.

I just posted saying I was wrong mate

I wondered why Jones went in hard. Thanks for the info S T.

It’s great that our team now stands up for each other.

Interesting that Rhyan Mansell had two rough conduct charges in the Tiger's match against Port Adelaide on April 9 and was fined $6000 (2 x $3000), down to $4000 with early pleas on both.

love that the likes of kornes are sooking about the grief that pickett was giving by saying "you're picking on a three-time premiership player, tigers have got long memories, blah blah blah"

actually, pickett was having a crack at a three-gamer who had spent the whole game roughing him up

The Kosi issue is such a non issue, I can't believe anyone is turning it into an issue.

Replace Kosi with, I dunno, Dusty, and nobody even mentions it.

Besides, you have no idea what was said. The all in melee suggests that some less than kind words were thrown at Kosi.

There’s no issue with Kossies actions in a nutshell

Wins a free for high contact off the footy

Converts the free and as most other players do he runs toward Mansell to let him know he’s cost his side a goal

Mansell grabs Kossie high again and a melee occurs

Kossie isn’t arrogant as Cornes has said pointing to the scoreboard to a 2nd game player, it is only when 2 time premiership player Liam Baker becomes involved he points Baker towards the scoreboard.

IMO no issue

They were getting stuck into Kozzie all night behind the play. A little elbow here, a little shove there and Kozzie’s actions spoke of I’m still here mate, you can’t keep me down.

And what’s Bolton’s problem? Didn’t he rub an opponents head after a goal earlier in the year?

Edited by Dee Zephyr

No Dusty = No Richmond.  It's that simple.  They are a group of very good to ordinary players who have realised if they play a very consistent and disciplined brand then Dusty will drag them over the line to flags.  There's no reason he can't play for another 4-5 years and do it again, by which time I predict he'll be cemented at the GOAT.

Dusty's 2017 year was the greatest ever by a player IMO.  In 2018 Dusty goes into the PF vs Collingwood with corkie and what happens?  In 2019 back half of the season he dragged them from 9-6 to 13-6 in four consecutive 3 Brownlow vote games to put them in the top 4 and in contention.  Geelong wins the 2020 GF if there's no Dusty.

None of their other players  are great, their best player coming through is Shai Bolton.  Their next best are Cotchin, Prestia, Edwards, Lambert, Lynch, Riewoldt, Rance, Grimes, Houli and Vlastuin - better players in better teams have been denied flags.

Richmond fans can take this either way - they've got the flags in the bag.

I remember when I was younger Richmond were beating us and my family decided to leave just before the game ended and my nan was working up the stairs (maybe late 60s) and a Richmond fan pushed her hard and said go tiges right in her face. She nearly fell down the stairs and people had to say something

was shocked

Wish Oliver had nailed that goal after the Kossie incident

He needs to fix his goal kicking

It was actually on line and then completely faded right. Didn't kick through the footy enough?

it's not just his goal kicking. field kicking has dropped off a bit too

needs a few sessions with choko to work on process. needs to get better rhythm and timing into kicking. seems to over-rush his kicking and trying to over-kick

His goal kicking is woeful. In general our goal kicking is not the best.

Definitely one big area where we can improve across the board.

Sweet, sweet hatred. Beats the hell out of pity. Especially from that bunch of mouth breathers. Bring it on.

Much as I want him to improve his kicking he’s getting free kicks for flopping, it’s not the greatest look. That said it was fun hearing Richo sook about it, he was down the moment he realised it was our night.

Anyone with too much time on their hands, the game day thread for the tigers is pretty funny reading.  https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/round-6-2021-richmond-vs-melbourne-mcg-7-25pm.1264478/page-8

E.g seeing these sorts of comments when you know it's about to come crashing down for them:

pretty sloppy start, but a nice mark from Lynch is good early

damn, nice stuff Rioli

Do you reckon lever still has nightmares about jacob townsend

fu** we look sharp, zero fumbles.

Dees [censored] themselves

That's a poor free, nice to get one our way for once though

Jack and tom look switched on

we're on early

Great start from everyone

We have entered “raise the fight” mode

This is QF 2017 pressure!

Haha Lever is Richmond's batch.

Geez we look hot

Also shows how well the tigers started - and how well we did to turn it around!

  • NON-MFC: Round 12

Round 12 kicks off with the Brisbane hosting Essendon at the Gabba as the Lions aim to solidify their top-two position against an injury-hit Bombers side seeking to maintain momentum after a win over Richmond. On Friday night it's a blockbuster at the G as the Magpies look to extend their top of the table winning streak while the Hawks strive to bounce back from a couple of recent defeats and stay in contention for the Top 4. On Saturday the Suns, buoyed by 3 wins on the trot, face the Dockers in a clash crucial for both teams' aspirations this season. The Suns want to solidify their Top 4 standing whilst the Dockers will be desperate to break into the 8.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
