Is Dean Kent not being selected? Thought he must be injured but he ainโ€™t on the injury list. Not sure he would have helped, just keen to know.

Over on big footy the Saints board is banning and deleting angry, critical posts lol.

Thatโ€™ll fix everything.

Absolute madness.

Biggest worry is the Tigers look very menacing, have a few days extra rest on us and we have no Fritta or May. Let's get over the Hawks first then start crapping ourselves to face Tigers with 3 less days rest. Good luck to us.

Yes, putting that one down as an opportunity for plenty of "learnings". If we lose by less than 5 goals we'll have done well.

The defeatest carp going on in this thread is deplorable. What relevance the Saints being shocking has to a game Melbourne plays NEXT WEEK I've no idea.

Langdon would not have dropped that mark.

And if he had, he would've followed it up with a chase and dive on Marlion Pickett. Appalling body language and defeated expression on Hill as he just gave up and watched Pickett kick it.

Can't believe how overweight he looks too. Not like a Byron Pickett  lump of muscle mass, but in a soft pudgey way.

Got his big pay day and has cashed in and doesn't look like he wants to put in the hard yards.

Boy was i wrong on the Hill over Langdon trade.

Unless he can redeem himself, you'd want to move him on and free up some space to pip Essendon and lure in Josh Dunkley. Their midfield needs bigger bodied elite mids. They're a bit like Essendon of 2018-2020

It's the MFCSS. It's deeply embedded in our DNA / psyche.

I reckon BB will play on Anzac eve which will give us a lift and our pressure game has been top notch. It'll be a battle against Richmond and a 50/50 call i reckon. No need to be fearful at all.

Gotta focus on the Hawks game first mind.

Makes for some pretty good reading though.

"As per the first post, I congratulate St Kilda on a gutsy, inspiring performance"

Is Brett Ratten the right guy?

I get a sick and twisted kick out of reading opposition supporters who have been flogged.

Mainly because I know what they are going through.

If Andy did that for Demonland - he would save some money on the server rental...

And half the users would never be seen again.

Saints 2020 was our 2018 but worse

Other than King they don't seem to have much coming through

Could be nasty if they do a North

25 and unders are okay - billings, marshall, steele, howard, butler, gresham, clark, coffield, bytel, king all should be good long-term afl players

but they're all a bit...vanilla, maybe?

100% agree, although David King reckons the Saints have more โ€œweaponsโ€ than Melbourne this year ?

Unless BB plays a full game this weekend and does not look weary in the last quarter I cannot see it. I would also be afraid of a major forward change in a game against this year's Grand finalist.

Great post Chook.

The Saints are fair dinkum pretenders regarding pressure when compared to MFC, tiges, Port Adelaide and Dogs.

The stats for last night are deplorable saints-wise as if the white flag was raised at 1/4 time. Dusty with 10 disposlas in final 1/4 supports this view.

32,056 there

Bit low, but maybe 30k is the new 40k?

It was Docklands with a 100% capacity of just on 50k so 75% = around 38k of which Medallion club takes out a fair amount.

I suspect a practical sell out would be around 35k

It's a big issue for us next week if we can't get the Tiger supporters along as they are the paying supporters.

not injured, just not getting selected. He wouldn't be getting a look in for our 22 either

Ratten is a great assistant coach.  I think he will regret taking the Saints job.

But a lot on here see him as some sort of deity and a far better coach than Goody.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

Itโ€™s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
