Last week was a team effort with almost everyone being solid.

This week was about our best players being the best on the ground. Any of the 6 could’ve got the votes in any order.

I thought Viney had the most vital moments.

Tough job this week. Special mention for Oliver, who was tagged but completely blew that tag to pieces which is a very promising sign,

Fritsch played ok. Sounds funny when he kicked 4 but could have kicked 8

hard to pick everyone but who kicks our goals without Fritsch?  critical player. kicked a 1/3 of our goals.  not sure we win without him

Fritsch finished off the work. Had so many chances. Missed marks. Missed tackles.  Only one tackle. Defensive pressure nil.  4 clangers from 12 kicks.  But his goal in the second gave us breathing room (thanks to Henderson brain snap) and bobbed up in a chain to finish off our best running goal. He is my Jeremy Howe type. So much potential and so so close to really nailing his talent.   He was good (and I nearly gave him votes) but could be better.

Throw a blanket over the top three.  They all had great games in different ways.

I have to give it to Lever for stepping up in the absence of May and some of the ridiculous defensive efforts he made.  Being the only man in our defensive 50 when Geelong were streaming down the field and somehow making the stop was just stupid.  Petracca unlucky given his dominance.  I see plenty of people giving him the six and can't argue.  Gawn also unlucky with his level of dominance over their ruck brigade.  I was also really happy with Gus, Langdon and Salem, but there just aren't enough votes.  It's a really nice problem to have.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?
