Yep I noticed that too - in real time difficult for the umps to catch that one

You would've thought at least someone (central ump, boundary ump, goal ump) would say let's just check if the ball was out first. To be fair if it's called a goal I'm not even sure you can definitively say it's out, remember it only needs to be the smallest part of the ball.

I actually think Kozzie's is the best this week, not only the skill but the importance of the goal. Turned the game.

How is he a cheat? The boundary umpire messed up; at normal speed, the player wouldn’t have even noticed the ball was out as he’s concentrating on getting the ball between the goal posts ... I somehow doubt you’d be saying cheat if it was one of our players.

Can't stop watching Kozzie's goal. Mesmerising, and the footwork is almost impossible to break down in full speed. Reminds me of a surfer entering a barrel. They disappear for a second, emerge, tack, and then disappear again, before magically coming out the other side. Sublime stuff.

Edit: plus sharks.

I thought every goal was automatically reviewed by the ARC?  Massive fail on this one.

Agreed. That would have happened so fast and Gibbon's focus would probably have just been on the ball.

Just saying based on that still, the ball was probably further out than what it looked. Can the visible umpire call it out ? I don't know.

I just watched Pickett's goal in slow-mo a couple of times, and it's even more impressive than I thought - super quick little steps initially to throw off the Saint in his face and the one on his tail. Hope I'm watching him kick goals for the Dees for the next 10+ years.

Congratulations to Kozzie!!!

As to the Carlton goal; to be out, every bit of the ball should be outside the outside edge of the line.
I think that means that, looking from directly above, if the inside millimetre of the ball is above the outside millimetre of the line, then that ball is still in.     As much as I'd like it to be clearly out, IMHO from that photo it could possibly be either way?

I think his game was even more impressive considering the rough start he's had this year.

To lose his mum at age 19 would be incredibly tough. He went home and still kept doing the work while away from the club.

He seemed to run out the game really well. I am sure his family are super proud of him.

I'm with you Rogue, really excited to be able to watch him every week.

With goals like that no wonder the headline from the Round 2 ‘Nine things we learned’ read

The Kozzie Show is must-watch TV

No pressure Kozzie, just go out there and keep having fun.

Did Kozzie win? I can’t see any announcement.

Yes, he won Round 2. He is now one of the nominees to win the whole thing. The only other Dees player to ever win the whole comp was the Wiz back in 1998 with this beautiful torp on the run:

Does that count as 3 score involvements on the stat sheet?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
