So here’s hoping that there are no incorrect late umpiring decisions affecting the result

unless they favor us ?

I think Ratten has them playing in a Richmond-esque team way, we got an unexpected win over them that almost stuffed their season last year but hand on heart I think they’ve gone past us. Doesn’t mean we won’t win but we have to bring our best to get a positive result today.

I’m sure they’ve done their homework and worked out that they can’t be indiscriminate with their forward entries, we won last week (and last year) largely off of good work from May and Lever.

Likewise I’m also hoping that our clearances will kick back into 2018-like gear.

I’d really love to say I feel confident but I don’t.

We will have a clearer picture of our boys tonight than last weeks game me thinks.

Bouyed by JVs inclusion.

If Tmac can play like he did last week and Jackson plays more than 2 good qrts we are a good chance. Gawn to do more around the ground.

Our backline is as good as it gets with even Tomlison playing well.

Heres hoping Trac breaks out along with Kozzie and Langdon blitzs like he did last year. Jordan to play even better.

Spargo to surprise all with a bag of 4.

Dees by the same ammount.

Enjoy.

Surprise indeed

Despite our win last year in Alice Springs, I’m just worried, like many, that it’s not a great match up for us with the speed at which they move the ball.

We can win, but it will require a big midfield improvement.

Saints defence does look gettable. It would be great to see one of TMac, Fritsch, or maybe even Jackson kick a few.

And I said this before last week, but I think Pickett is one of our most important players. He adds something completely different, and could win a game if he gets it 15/20 times.

Game day.  Time to get a little expectant. The saints most times seem to have our measure.   It has been a long time since I just expected to beat the saints.

back as far as Moorabbin. Standing in the outer cheering when we scored and a little old lady kept hitting me on the head with her umbrella.  It’s hard to forget.

good luck to us all tonight,

Hope Goodwin has a plan. Last year he didn't and luckily they missed some easy ones giving us a one point win.

We're two decent forwards short of a working team.

A win would be a pleasant surprise

Looking forward to this one, if only to get a gauge on whether we are any good or not.  Last week really told us nothing IMO..

Strangely confident we will relish the fast surface at Marvel, and run over the Saints in 2nd half.  May/Lever to again dominate.  Oliver/Petracca to run wild.  Tmac and Fritsch all to hit the scoreboard.  Kossie scintillates and kicks 3 to get fans super excited.   JJ backs up with another good game.   Lots of cameos from the rest.   We win the clearances and Saints look lost for answers.

Demons by 25+

We should have more run in the legs, Saints one less day to rest and played in heavy conditions.  Expect to finish off quarters strong, Go Demons!!!

I’m really looking forward to this the game, but as jumpy as a ‘cat on a hot tin roof’ about the result.  We will need to clean up our clearance from stoppage work to stay with them, but if we can do that, our fitness, and their shorter preparation after a tougher game last week, might see us get over them in the last. With fingers firmly crossed, Dees by seven points.

Just want to see manic forward pressure all night, don’t let them get out easy and we’ll go a long way towards winning this one.

Wonder if there'll be a late out for the Saints?  Big market move towards us this morning.

Bedtime here now. I’ll be watching at breakfast time. I’m hoping for a full team effort but I’m worried about their big forwards (Membrey loves playing us) and their quick, little guys.  Go Demons!

That’s just off the back of demonstone’s article.

I'm guessing the concert under the grass at Etihad Stadium is going to feel very heavy in the last quarter for one of these teams.

does roof shut = masks?

No. Masks only on public transport and taxis

Not too confident. We were rusty and are a few weeks off gelling I reckon. A close loss then we’ll beat GWS next week

No reason we can’t win this one: the Saints are a good side but they aren’t Richmond level good

Clearly Tmac us a true confidence player.

Heres hoping last weeks game gives him the momentum to dominate again. It was the Tom form last game that got us close to a gf.

Heres hoping.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
