Watched the Richmond game yesterday. They’re a pretty limited outfit. As long as we don’t get complacent we should beat them.

It seems unlikely that Downie and Gay will rejoin the team this week, so we'll need to go with last week's side again.

I haven't seen Richmond play, but this strikes me as the sort of game that we have historically struggled with.

Our forward line looked okay last week, but the defense looks undersized. I think we'll need to throw Scott back as reinforcement.

Hopefully our midfield can dominate and we can keep the ball in our forward half much more than we did last week.

Got me tickets earlier. Wonder where section z4 is ???

same spot as dl4e?

Wish this game was at Punt road.

I watched us play part of a casey v tiger's match prior to a dees game a few years back, but have never watched a full game or sat in the stand.

Karen Paxman will (all going to plan) play her 30th game on the weekend.

For context, this puts her among only 22 players prior to this round who have reached that figure, and the first to play all 30 at Melbourne. Libby Birch reached the milestone last week with her games combined between the Dogs and Dees.

At the moment, given the shorter seasons, it's effectively what a 50 or even 100 game milestone would be in the men's, so something to celebrate. Especially given it's not guaranteed (although I wouldn't count her out) that she'll reach 50, as that will take another 2 or so seasons.

So congrats to Paxy!

For reference, other milestones of this nature that could be reached if the season reaches completion:

Scott (currently on 28 games)

Mithen (25)

L.Pearce (23)

D.Pearce (22)

Cunningham (22)

Hore (22)

Just go down  there and imagine !

FWIW I am not sure that the stand was used last week.

Saw on TV in the back ground and it didn't look occupied !

Binman looks like you will have to BUCKET LIST this wish  hoping the AFLW Dees play at Punt Rd in 2022.

Or shall I say " BIN IT" !!!

Just been watching 15 minutes of the dogs v blues game.
I hope you get better umpires than this lot.
we had better umpires in the F grade reserves of the VAFA !

Still first to the ball usually gets the breaks. But not tonight. You deserve better.
good luck against the tigers

Go Dees

No change for the side this week. I wonder what is wrong with Maddie Gay. Very good midfielder.

Hope we don't do the usual and stuff up against a poor side. Handing the tigers their first win would be an embarassment to say the least.

As long as we limit the supply into Frederick and Brennan we should be ok. Richmond don’t really have any weapons other than those two.

Also would pay some attention to their 2020 number one pick Ellie McKenzie. She only got 12 touches on debut but went at 100% efficiency I believe.

Agree Ellie McKenzie is going to be a good player but then Richmond will have to put some effort into our #15 pick, Eliza McNamara who got 18 touches on debut and was probably in the top half dozen players on the ground. I would not be surprised if she ends up our first 100 game player.

Go Dees!

I have watch Casey there a couple of times in recent years. Good watching as crowd numbers were low.

Umpires off to a flyer for Richmond. Terrible HTB decision and a 50 to gift them a goal.

Umpiring is a disgrace.

Joke umpiring for sure in that first half.

Bit of unsteady play cost us, too.

Feel like Goldrick was emblematic of our play that quarter - some great movement, good pressure, but there were fumbles that cost us good attacks or gave Richmond too much of a chance.

Having said that, I feel like a few of our better players haven't been sighted a lot so far.

Also... holding the ball or 'holding' calls... high tackle or pinged... yeah, awful umpiring that easily balanced the breeze.

Spot on , need to be cleaner.

Start of 4th quarter will see Dees up by 23 points but with the Tiges kicking with the wind in the last.

Daniel Bradshaw vs Demons from 2005 on;

9, 8, 6, 4, 4.

He was a good forward, for sure, but that's ridiculous for footy in the late 2000s.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
