Well, still waiting to hear from any source what the damage is. If it’s your standard hammie, he might miss the first two rounds max as we’re still a month away.

I was also disappointed with Jake especially defensively last season, but he is one of our better kicks forward of centre and think he can still have a positive impact for us this season.

Don’t hold your breath on hearing. Info on injuries and anything more than photos of training is rare in 2021.

I think the club’s communications in terms of injuries has been good so far this preseason od. They were quick to inform us on Viney, Brown and Weid.

Not sure when the Melksham injury occurred but the club might still be assessing the damage before informing us. I’m more annoyed at the tweet, it only tells us Melksham has suffered a set back/injury, nothing else. If Browne had more info why not state that also.

Melky has played some good games for us and at times he has been pivotal. However, inconsistency has been the hallmark of his career at Essendon and Melbourne. He does not do enough, enough of the time. And now Father Time is against him.

That’s a big ask for kids in their first year of AFL.

If we wish to improve then as I have stated in my posts it's time to give the youth a go ( as long as they have earned it )

This means the following being 2018 heroes who have done little since or not improved are under the kosh

Nev Jetta  AVB  ANB Harmes  Melksham.
Hibbo went well last year and deserves his spot.

Players like Sparrow  Jordon Kossie Jacko Riv Laurie Bowey Rosman even Chandler Neitshke and Baker  are all in the mix.

Add Langers Tommo and BBB and half our team is Different!

That's why so am so bullish about our 2021 !!

Thing is Browne has no further info nit dies Club at this stage as suggested getting more info.

If we read the info about training or lack of it yesterday it indicated that the players have been given FOUR days off which IMO answers it all.

If Fraser doesn't play it Laurie or Bowey will and Fraser plays his natural position which he will make his own the wing opposite  Langers!!

nieta should get a run at it at some stage and jordon, maybe baker could be a HFF? doesnt get enough of the pill to play the wing or execute his kicks but could find the goals and has speeed

The young kids won't play not when you have Mitch.Brown, Jordon, vandenBerg, Sparrow, Petty and Jones in front of them.

And unless they show brilliant form in practise matches neither should they.

i think this is one of the big flaws in our list structure, we dont expose our draftees early enough and we dont like seeing Jones, Melk, ANB, AVB, MBrown on team sheets but we've got Baker (12 games at 22yo), Sparrow, (7, 21), Bedford (2, 20), Nieta, Jordon, Chandler (1, 20) who are just as unproven and they've had 3+ years on the list. can any of them really be trusted at senior level consistently who knows? but 3 years on the list without any real form at senior level is a big punt that they're going to come good soon- and soon it has to be. imagine if port held rozzee, duursma and butters back or bailey smith at the dogs coz their midfield was too stacked. yet we consistently turn to old reliable and i'm scared we'll be exposed for it this year. maybe our list isn't as consolidated as we all believe it is.

I think this will be the first year we probably will do that. We played Pickett, Jackson and Rivers early last year and remember the disaster of debuting Watts, Trengove and others early. I think this is the first year we can rely on the older blokes but saying that if Rosman, Laurie and Bowey's form warrants it they will get selected.

Jake is having a shocking run, I hope it is not a long term problem for him. But I think that we have him covered short term.

We used to play picks too early to get games into them and I am sure that killed some careers.

Now I dont think we hold players back now I think we reward good preseasons and then post that make youngsters earn their spot when they are ready.

It’s hard to say we hold players back when last year Pickett, Jackson and Rivers in a similar fashion to Port with Rozee, Butters, Duursma. Jordon and Sparrow have been unfortunate that they have been behind some quality mature mids. Petty and Chandler were injured most of last year.

Really felt last year we just persevered with players out of form....ie Harmes/Tmac/Melksham/Brayshaw but with no real reserves competition we did not really get to see others showing their wares.  Baker was one that put together good string of form to get him few late games but apart from that i can't think of any others that were able to force their way in/up.  I hope we just don't persevere with players horribly out of form in the senior team.  I really think players like Mitch Brown should have been played much more and earlier last year when it was obvious a bunch of our senior players were so far off AFL standard.

Ok Ill say it...... If we continue to play guys like Melksham, Spargo, Baker, and even Hibberd et al we will amount to nothing

Start playing Bowey, Laurie, and "The Freak" Fraser Rosman EARLY !!!

Just to explain the Nickname "The Freak" came about after I saw him two weeks ago in simulated match practice take "The Mark of the Game" then in another bit of play kick "The Goal of the game" from 50 out on the wrong side for a left footer on an acute angle, without too much bother!!!

FREAKISH !!

Perfect! Put him on the long term injury list and get someone who tackles and can actually get more than 7 disposals a game in!

Could they be holding back three of our best players to play the gruelling second half of the year to help the final push for the Eight, Four, and then Flag??

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
