Reading the early views of his initial listing to the club. "Too small" was the call from a few posters. No way, he is going to be great for us over many many seasons. What composure.

I remember early comments about Clarry saying that he was a surprise selection and was a poor choice. How wrong were they? Clarry is an out and out champion. Cant believe the things he can do with that piece of leather. Would be a very worthy Brownlow Medallist.

Let's face it Bobby. Few, if any Demonlanders, have spent the time watching TAC Cup or underage footy around the country to make a proper assessment on our draftees or other clubs draftees for that matter. It's literally a full time job and we can be thankful that we now have a recruiting team that work exceptionally hard to identify the talent we need and as we stand now have had many more hits than misses.

To dismiss someone because they are seven centimetres short of their preferred height or because his father didn't have Robbie Flower's career is typical Demonland. Fortunately, Jason Taylor and team don't look at things the same way.

Jordan Gysberts' first two games were outstanding, but I get the feeling that Bowza might just have the edge over him in the long run.

Luke tappscott as well. Was almost BOG first game against the swans.

Yes, his father Brett played 85 games for the Saints and debuted in the same match as Robert Harvey.

I'm glad he didn't get to 100 games and qualify his offspring for Father/Son selection!

Wow. Very close for father/son.

Watching the 2020 draft night vision with Jason Taylor confident of Bowey's selection, and then the recent highlights clip confirms how good this young fella is going to be. Imagine him at the magical 100 game mark!

Our recruiting/drafting and player development over the last 3 years has been exceptional.

Hope you got to see Clarry live the other night, Bobby.

Gotta say it's particularly impressive to have identified talent last year too. Sure, they've been following some of them for years, but without a lot of footy last year, our recruiters have done a brilliant job here.

More like Oliver to Bowey to Brown. ;)

So fortunate to debut in that team; defined role, support from leaders, structured up properly so when you spin and move through traffic and hand pass out the back - of course May is there; trusting his teammates to do what they need to do.

Looking at this Clio you would think he's a 100 game veteran.  Ridiculously clean and his awareness is quite impressive as well.

Which one was he? It all happened so fast i couldn't even see him.

He's a mix of Aaron Davey and Clayton Oliver. Speed and kicking live Davey and quick hands and vision like Oliver.

Jason Taylor is a gun.

True. Debuting early but not thrown to the wolves like draftees a decade ago; earning their spot rather than having it thrust upon them as the saviour. We’re now where we needed to be.

Said it before, but hasn't he timed his good form well. Good is about to hit cloud 9 playing in finals for a top 4 Melbourne club.

Doesn't get much better then that.

Tapscott demolishing Rhyce Shaw will always stick in my mind. Pity he didn't do much else after that game.

This is exactly why if we want to, we can keep Weideman. Things change really quickly. In 2018 he played in our finals campaign when Hogan went down. I bet Petty didn't think he would be holding down FB in a finals team this year either.

Bowey was probably told you're in for a few weeks, show us what you got. Now Hunt has gone down for maybe the rest of the year, and suddenly he can cement himself in a finals team.

We are just hoping he will be a Caleb Daniel clone  and at least half as good.

Without putting too much pressure on Bowser this highlight reel gives me the feeling he will be the equal at least IF NOT even better ie.  kicking depth especially without losing elite disposal and speed in ball use and on the run himself to be even more attacking than Daniel. Small samples yet but they are very compelling viewing aren't they? JT especially take another bow every thing you promised is true plus a but more as Coming into a top 4 team makes his debut and form even more meritorious!!

He’s gotta be an eventual onballer, doesn’t he?

Well according to Jason Taylor he could be a Sam Mitchell type midfielder.

I have said it previously but that traditional centre role is perfect for him.

Bowey is 15kg lighter than Mitchell and 25-30kg lighter than Petracca and Bontempelli. He will need to spend a lot of time in the gym to get strong enough to play in the centre IMO. That said, he is super clean.

18 years old yet has the maturity and composure of a 200 gamer. I already feel at ease whenever I see him with ball in hand.

Safe to say that with 4 Rising Star nominations this season (including the likely winner), the future is in good hands!

As he matures and develops he will be known as Jake Bowey, not a copy of any other player.

The kid has poise, good decision making, quick hands and knows where to find the ball.

The first "bowser".

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
