He will force Tomlinson out of the team soon which would be a huge plus for us.

This was about Petty.

Didn't age well....

?

How much mileage would we get out of a thread where we re-post our historical (extremely) wide of the mark opinions on players? There's a couple of crackers here.

I'm still uncertain about Oliver, he just does these dinky little handballs, a la, cheap stats like Tom Mitchell.

This one too.

Can you imagine if he was 10 times the player Hunt is. 5000 metres gained every week.

Tough to do.

Agreed that would be impressive.

Hah...he (Oliver) leads the competition in contested possessions.

Hardly cheap stats.

He's the best inside mid in the game.

As for Jake, I hope he plays out the year at Casey...

He's not ready for the step up yet, not strong enough to stick his tackles and gets pushed off the ball too easily.

Looks like he will be a player but give him time.

From now on whatever @Pickett2Jackson says, we'll know the opposite will happen. So no positivity, thank you.

Can someone please start an 'Aged Like Milk' thread? It would be gold!

Good name for it

needs to get stronger. he gets pushed off too easily. so I agree, re-assess in 2 years.

He's playing well for Casey but I agree we need to give him some time. Same with Laurie (currently injured) and Rosman.

I reckon we've nailed the draft the last couple of years. All 3 2019 draftees (admittedly Jackson & Pickett were Picks 3 & 12) in the best 22. We can't expect the same results with lower picks in 2020, especially with the lack of revealed form because of COVID, but I like the fact we're picking the best available players with an emphasis on skills and with upsides. Fraser Rosman could be anything in a few years and we got him at Pick 34.

Well if it was up to certain Demonlanders, Hunt, T Mac, Jordon, Spargo, Brayshaw, Lever, Tomlinson, Petty, Viney, Baker, Melksham, Jetta, Bradtke, Bedford and my favourite, ANB, wouldn't be at the MFC this year.

I watched the game on foxtel and he was very good, I think with a little more upper body strength he will be a very good small defender maybe as good as Caleb from the Western Bulldogs.

I watched the Richmond vs Western match and Caleb was not one of the reasons they lost.

The good thing for Jake is that he’s come to the club at a time when things are going well and there’s no urgency to push him into the fray early. So he won’t get the early glamour of the likes of a Gulden or a Thilthorpe but he will have every opportunity to develop his game and come into the team when he’s good and ready.

Take a bow Jake. Clean, good disposal, brave, good decision maker and knows how to find the ball.

Another JT special. This kid is really exciting.

Absolute jet. He will learn a lot from the goal he gave away when he took one step too many. You gotta be super quick at this level.

Bowey will complement Salem beautifully down back for a long time to come.

Looks a beauty - cool, calm and collected.   Great disposal and almost always constructive decision making.

IMO the best user of the ball at  the club, in only his 2nd game.

What a jet.. footy smarts, composure, and a tough nut.

What great timing in hitting a great form on the eve of finals. Kid must be on cloud 9.

Oh and well done Jason Taylor, Tim Lamb and the rest of the recruiting staff. I think back to this video on how quietly confident in Both Bowey and Laurie as player's.

That spinny pick up explosion [censored] was awesome. Bit of ginger Macleod about it.

How we have lamented our drafting, trading and player development program between 2005 and 2015. The amount of players we got wrong, and the high draft picks we burned or stuffed up.

Not now. Rivers, Jordon, Kossie, Jackson, Sparrow, and now Bowie.

He was super last night. A gut-wrenching brain fade in the last quarter (I reckon his face will be as red as his hair when he reviews that play one-on-one with Chaplin) but so clean, amazingly sharp on his feet, and works hard when he hasn't got the ball.

And after years of few players with top-end foot skills, we actually have another good kick!

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
