Great to have Spargo-pants signed for another year.  Great football IQ, Kozzie could learn from him on how to position for the fall of the ball from contested possessions in forward 50.  Tackling pressure needs to increase, but thats nothing new for our forward line.

Spargo doesn't have the physical attributes to be a decent AFL player, but clearly the coach is a fan. File him alongside Melksham and Vandenberg for plenty of undeserved games in 2021.

The cleanout of the bottom third of our list that I was hoping for doesn't seem likely to happen this year. We'll never be a good side until we develop the sort of depth that Richmond has, and that is not going to happen while we persist with players who aren't up to it.

With Jetta at a sunset, I'd see Hore making a good play in the back-pocket role due to his mobility and keen attitude towards opponents.

Biggest skill is disposal / team play ie something happens ie a score (GOAL) when Charlie passes the ball or handpass 

Most Demonlanders are besotted with stars if players of 25 and20 possessions. No regard fir the skill of disposal or team play.

About time Jayden Hunts 4 goals Few possessions Charlie's games vs Pies and Giants of 2 and 3 goals and 12 possessions Are held as match winning contributions.

Ftitta will start kicking 2,3and 4 more regularly I am certain from 12/15 disposals and will be lauded.

It is a team game and that's how we will win a flag with 12 out if the 22 contributing a role in the overall Picture.

I meant the use of Footy IQ as a justification for giving a barely average footballer a two year contract

It's carries about as much weight as using Caled Daniel as a comparison based on the fact their both short a~ses

Spargo's performace doesn't provide an objective basis for a two year contract. Hence a requirement to draw upon baseless garbage to justify it.

I’m not unhappy with these deals, Hore gives us backline depth so one year is about right. 

Spargo is clearly the polarising one though, after his game vs WC this year I honestly wasn’t sure I could see him breaking into the team again. We’ve seen some stinkers over the years but he was just horrendous. 

But he worked hard, and in a year with no VFL he still managed to do enough to earn his place back and when he did come back he was hardly the worst player in the team. In fact I would imagine he became one of the most efficient. 

I know Goodwin loves him, and he’s always looking to be damaging and creative in the forward 50. I think two years for a bloke who’s 21 and had a great first season in 2018 during our finals run is not the worst decision we’ve made. I am concerned as to whether that means Hunt maybe pushed out as I still think he has more upside.

I actually disagree.

I really feel like his stats in debut year, and again in the back half of this year, demonstrated his ability to provide AFL standard "connection" and "score generation".

As a third year player, he has shown enough for further development. In his limited 3 years with us we had a terrible 2nd year with substantial injuries leaving him exposed and unsupported as a junior player, and his 3rd year was covid interupted with no seconds comp for form development.

Kids need devlopment. Kids with smarts, deserve a chance to development. 2 years is not unreasonable.

 

I'd actually say that flashy speed without smarts (Hunt) or athletic endurance without skills (ANB) are less reasons to give extensions.

Again wafty concepts like "Connection" and "Score Generation" are both baseless and subjective terms that can't been measured or compared

And as for your observations. The one you outline for ANB is a shocker and simply contradicted by the objective facts, let alone any sense of "vibe" from watching on

As for the observation for Hunt. It's clear he has struggled to get enough game time, but the last three games in a row showed the damaging scoring impact of his speed, playing deeper forward and leveraging his speed, averaging 2 goals a game.

Those of you bagging Marty Hore clearly don’t understand the asset that he is. He is a wonderful reader of the ball/play which is an essential ability for a defender and not particularly common. He will complement May and Lever very well.

As for Charlie Spargo, I can see a footy brain there but he needs to add 10 metres to his kicks and develop opposite side skills. Some extra upper body strength would help to stick more tackles too. Can be good if he works hard enough.

Demonland constantly highlights how we see players through a different lens! Hore to me is slow In speed and decision making, fumbles but can take a grab. 
Personally I would delist him, but can just accept him as a rookie, would prefer we rookie a young kid this year, as if there is a year for a player to slip through the cracks in the draft, it will be 2020!

Both good signing. Not every player we sign can be star. We have what is called a salary cap. I'm sure they aren't costing us a heap of coin. Spargo still has some potential to have a break out year and has good attributes. While Hore was playing regular footy and doing ok before his run of injuries - a handy backup with O&Tmac looking to move on.

Hore provides depth and is inexpensive but I always worry for players who miss a year (likewise Petty)

Spargo has shown just enough to persist with although the 2^nd year is generous imv. Decent with ball in hand but needs to find it more. Needs to up his pressure game as well. We have enough slackers as it is.
