7 News Adelaide reporting Burgess will be at the Crows in 2021.  Think this is a big loss if it happens!

That he is.

Apparently Burgess was a big part of getting Brown across the line, so no idea why he would’ve come across with Burgo leaving. I call BS

‘From next season’. Sounds to me like there’s every possibility Burgo goes either next October or possibly in March once he’s got us through the preseason.

If it’s a compassionate release for family reasons and we’ve had time to find a replacement I’m completely fine with that.

says ‘back in the mix’ for next season.

we just lost his understudy to freo tho i saw them tweet about it, forget the name now but a highly respected figure in the field nonetheless

You would think his understudy would be well placed to take over when Burgess leaves so the fact he’s moved on tells me Burgess is staying for a while longer at least. It looks like Burgess will return to SA when his contract is up so hopefully the club have a replacement in mind and preferably one who will work in-house with Burgess before he goes, learn at the foot of the master.

So 7 news Adelaide said Burgess was in the mix to go to Crows. They better sort this out soon. Don’t the 1-4 year players start pre season next week?

Phil Merriman. Bummer. I was thinking they could work out a succession plan with him and Burgo.

This will be a huge blow if he leaves, especially with what he has achieved in such a short time. The club simply has to hold him to his contract.

It cant be happening as only 2 weeks ago he was instrumental in BB coming across. I suspect and hope its happening at the completion of 2021 ready to take the  crows on for teh preseason of 2022.

i think the only vital role he played was telling the club Brown isn;t going to be held back long term by his knee injury this season i dont think having burgo at the club sold us any more than any other club, i believe the burgo factor is being well overplayed in relation to browns signing

What are these ''compassionate'' reasons ?

His kids live in Adelaide I believe. If he wants to be back home I could understand that. But we’d want a proper succession plan

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
