I Hope Please GIF

I'm hearing he's keen to stay. Settled in really well with the group.

Both WA clubs have sounded him out, but it's believed he will stay.

Smart move to not extend at this stageย

โ€œFlightyโ€. Thatโ€™s a hugeย ย call Nev!! In fact thatโ€™s a put down of a kid who has looked anything but !!!!

That requires a sauce to show your credibilityย

I've said many times where I get most of my info.

You and your mates can't keep trying to question my credibility if you wish, not my problem.

There could be many reasons why he hasn't agreed to an extension yet. Only one being he is contemplating going home. I hope and pray that's not one of them.ย

You need to think things through a little more Nev. You are dismissive in saying it is "not your problem" , yet it was your choice to lay an unnecessary and unsupported slur on a young man.

If you're so sure about your info, why are you so defensive? You don't have to prove anything to anyone on the forums, or even post it really.ย

Uncle BBO I took that to mean he is flighty about whether he is going to stay or go. I don't think that's a slur if that is what was meant. I choose to hear what I want to hear and in this case I'm listening to Pennant St Dee and look forward to hearing about him signing an extension sooner than later. I know some might find that somewhat ironic given I mentioned someone else's observation that he hasn't signed an extension yet. BB won't let him go now anyway.ย ย

my mfcss says that until such a time that any player signs on the dotted line they're inevitably leaving and only after they sign an extension with us will they break down with a long-term crippling injury

we'll all be rooned, said hanrahan...

"Slur"...? Righto.

One day if you want to talk footy instead of always trying to have cracks at me; let me know.

Gross incompetence. Why hasnโ€™t Ned Guy been sacked already?

I dont think those deals are just Nedsย doing. I think Eddie, Bucks etc are all in on the decisions.

If he gets the flick imo he will be made the scape goat.

Eddie and bucks should be shown the door to if Ned gets the flick.ย

It's not a lock. 'Flighty' was the word I heard that described where he's at. Not saying he's gone of course, but it's not totally safe.

I hope yourย info is wrong.

We ought to be livid at the club if Jackson wants to go home. Develop him for 2 years so West Coast can reap the benefits.

There were plenty of great VIC prospects available to us such as Serong, Young, Day etc... who were not flight risks.

I think the value gain we realised this trade period from recruiting then trading Preuss, the great deal we got for Hogan, and general trade craft recently, indicates if Luke decides to head West, then weโ€™ll have a well developed strategy to ensure we improve our team in the process.ย

Can we please stick to happy rumours and not sad rumours please aha

Why, that is a risk you take when drafting top end talent from other states.ย  You need to hope your program can keep them.ย  There would be no question the WCE would be chasing him as a replacement for Nic Nat.

The info wasn't that he was going, personally I think he's more likely to stay, it was more that it's not a lock just yet. The thing in our favour is that Yze is a fantastic communicator and relates really well to players from what I've heard, he's already working with a couple of them specifically, so I think his influence could make a big difference to our group.

And if we can perform consistently as a team for once in many many seasons that will help to. I cant remember a more important or critical season for our club.

seriously though, it is tiresome

No we need to start heading to the top with all these kids, this oneย is, if not the most important years in the clubs history.

No more #$&@ just get out there and win, win, win, we may stumble at times all clubs do, but 2021 is the time, we come back from all the hell over the last 56 years!

I thought there maybe some good info. Turns out no, there isn't.

Jackson has been at the club less than a year, with most of the season spent on the road in the hub. Letโ€™s give him a chance to settle into some normality of life in Melbourne (fingers crossed), playing at the MCG week in week out, hopefully for a team playingย finals. Iโ€™m almost certain he will extend if those things are true.

Jackson isn't going anywhere in the short term. like Jesse he'll get chased every single off season by both W.A clubs but so will Rivers and Kozzie. any half decent interstate player is going to deal with that most of their career.ย

Everything i've heard about LJ is he's incredibly happy at the club, excited for the future and the club thinks we've got ourselves an incredible talent.ย

I personally think LJ's first 4-5 years are going to be mostly flashes of brilliance with a gradual build in strength, fitness and consistency before absolutely exploding onto the scene and ripping a season apart. gotta keep expectations in check for the young man but he does look the goods

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasnโ€™t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals. ย

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturdayโ€™s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFLโ€™s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

Concerningly, average attendances in 2024 were 2,660 fans per match, with the womenโ€™s game incurring an annual loss of approximately $50 million.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
